'Power grab'?

Read the Constitution, assholes!  Article 1, Section 5.

Changing the rules of the Senate is the right of the Party in the majority.

And, as far as 'ignoring the 2010 election'?   I think Democrats ought to respect the 2010 election about as much as the Republicans respected the 2008 election.
