Oh, that's why they called him 'Songbird'

I have been wondering why John McCain was allegedly called 'songbird' by his captors ... in North Vietnam ... You did know he was a POW 35 years ago, right?

I've come across some of the reason. Here is the transcript of an interview of John McCain on a Cuban radio broadcast from November 9, 1967. Here's one McCain did for the French in January, 1968 and here's another one that he did for the Viet Cong that was broadcast into South Vietnam on June 2, 1969.

Damn Tweety, you couldn't shut up.

I certainly understand though. It's nice to get some 'tea and cookies' once in awhile when you are used to being tied up and getting slapped around. But you know, when do we get to hear a little of the 'other' stuff along with all that phony, revised and trumped-up rah-rah stuff, when it comes to those 5 1/2 years - 35 years ago?

[I got those links to the radio transcripts from an anonymous commenter at the 'Baldwin Park Democrat' blog]
