"I continue to believe that the original decision to go into Iraq was a massive strategic blunder, that the two problems that you've pointed out -- Al Qaida in Iraq and increased Iranian influence in the region -- are a direct result of that original decision."While John McCain once again completely embarrassed himself today, Barack Obama slammed Petraeus and Crocker in the Senate hearing by brilliantly pointing out to them -- and the rest of the country that's smart enough to follow along -- that the two problems they keep whining about; Al-Qaeda (sic) in Iraq and Iranian influence in Iraq, are a direct result of the Bush/McCain 'blunder' of stupidly invading Iraq.
Barack Obama-4/8/08 Senate hearing on Iraq
Petraeus and Crocker were not the only ones whining about Iranian influence today. Joe Lieberman, McCain -- I even heard Newt Gingrich on Faux whimpering about it.
I wrote about the Iranian influence on Iraq some 14 months ago. It was a brilliant piece then and it's even more brilliant today.
Do yourself a favor and read it. And you will realize that the Iranians are not just influencing Moqtada al Sadr and his Mahdi Army but Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki too.
Barack just keeps nailing it. He is so much smarter than McCain that it has become almost laughable. I only say 'almost' because the pathetic thing about it is --McCain could actually get elected over Obama.
