"Budget bills to contain more than 8000 earmarks, costing taxpayers $20 billion..."
If Drudge wasn't such a lying tool for Republicans he would have used my 'headline', 'Democrats drastically cut the pork', instead.
Do you know how many earmarks there were in 2006 when Republicans controlled Congress?
There were 15,832 totaling $71 billion!
Congratulations, Democrats! We real fiscal conservatives appreciate your efforts. You cut earmarks by almost half and cut the cost of them by, 350%!
Now all we have to do is get rid of more of the overspending Republicans next year.
**ADDENDUM-1/28/08: The 110th Democratic controlled Congress actually slashed earmarks to $17 billion this year. That is down from the ridiculous $71 billion the Republican controlled government gave us just one year earlier. Any comments on that wingnuts? I didn't think so -- I'd hide and shut the fuck up too, if I was one of you.
