Sunday Scroll #7 - Easter Edition

Bush will finally respect our war dead
In an about-face by the U.S. government four years into the war in Iraq, America's fallen troops are being brought back to their families aboard charter jets instead of ordinary commercial flights, and the caskets are being met by honor guards in white gloves instead of baggage handlers with forklifts. (TP)
It took four long years and the embarrassment of their disrespect being exposed, for Bush, the leader of the phony-patriot segment of our country, to finally show respect to our fallen. These people are beyond despicable.

After all, it is genetic
"Why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it’s gonna happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Oh, I mean, it’s not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?" - Barbara 'Bags' Bush

"Beautiful"? You ugly Bitch, there isn't anything beautiful about you!

Your share of the debt
The national debt on April 07: $8,886,961,277,002.61
Your share of the national debt: $29,470.30

This is how much the debt was, and how much you owed on it a mere two weeks ago when I first ran this link;
The national debt on March 24: $8,834,221,160,773.59
Your share of the national debt: $29,305.63

You didn't realize that because of the last three Republican presidents you lost $165 in the last two weeks, did you? And, keep in mind, that $29,470 is for every individual so if you're married and have two children, you lost $660 in those two weeks. I say, 'last three Republicans' because of course, Bill Clinton didn't add a single red cent to the debt and in fact, had a SURPLUS over his 8 years in office. When you elect Republicans, you pay for it for the rest of your life!

He didn't just say that?
Imus: "That's some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoos ..."
McGurk: "Some hard-core hos."
Imus: "That's some nappy-headed hos there, I'm going to tell you that."

Whew! Damn I-Man, tell us what you really think!

Bush has no standing
Our fearless leader accused Iran of violating the Geneva Conventions by holding the British sailors this past week. What standing does Bush have in defending the Geneva Convention? Not only has he thumbed his nose at the international community with his blatant disregard for the conventions, but we learned this week that he's been supporting terrorists who are killing Iranians from their bases in Pakistan.

Come to think of it, doesn't that make us a terrorist sponsoring nation?

Do you people who agreed with Bush before now understand what the rest of us were saying? You can't have it both ways.

She can run, but she can't hide
"A top aide to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales abruptly quit Friday, almost two weeks after telling Congress she would not testify about her role in the firings of federal prosecutors. There was no immediate reason given, but Monica M. Goodling’s refusal to face Congress had intensified a controversy that threatens Gonzales’ job."

If Goodling asserts the 5th Amendment again, let her spend some time in prison just like Judith Miller did. Ms. Goodling is a graduate of Pat Robertson's law school, Regents U. There needs to be some new rules set - No one from a Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell college should be allowed to serve in government.

Where do they get these people?
Another Bush crony, and a close friend of Goodling's, Rachel K. Paulose, who was inserted as the US attorney in Minneapolis last month, has driven three people to step down in protest over her odd, but typical Republican behavior. Quoting Bible scriptures and demeaning your staff at the same time might be typical phony-Christian behavior acceptable to wingnuts, but it's actually just more hypocrisy and incompetence to come from Bush. How can you enforce the Constitution when you have never read it?

Fair and Balanced?
"This is too much…Phoenix Fox 10 News runs a poll to see who is "the most foolish American" and the host proclaims—Britney Spears the winner!

Fox's problem? Take a look at their own graphic and tell me who the real winner was. And Fox News viewers wonder why they're so stupid. Crooks & Liars

Rudy's Judy killed little puppies
Judith Giuliani once demonstrated surgical products for a controversial medical-supply company that used dogs - which were later killed - in operations whose only purpose was to sell equipment to doctors. In Sunday's Post, Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign spokesman, Michael McKeon, said of Judi Giuliani's work with U.S. Surgical, "She was in the operating room hundreds of times, using her nursing skills and training doctors in the stapling technique."NY Post

Literally Nailed
Victor showed no fear, smoking a cigarette, waiting in line for his turn on the cross. But he cried out and openly wept as the five-inch, (13-centimetre) stainless-steel nails -- pre-soaked in alcohol to disinfect them -- were driven through his palms with the ordinary carpenter's hammer. Victor was one of at least 19 Filipinos who underwent ritual crucifixion on Good Friday in the northern village of Cutud, as part of a bloody annual spectacle that continues to shock tourists and outsiders in this devoutly-Roman Catholic nation.

Income and Poverty
In 2005, median household money income in the nation rose to $46,300; an increase of 1.1 percent from 2004 in real terms. At 12.6 percent in 2005, the official poverty rate for the nation was not statistically different from the rate in 2004. The total of 37 million people living below the official poverty thresholds was also not statistically different from 2004. In 2005, the number of people without health insurance coverage increased from 45.3 million in 2004 to 46.6 million. The uninsured rate (the percentage of people without health insurance coverage) also increased to 15.9 percent in 2005 (from 15.6 percent in 2004) census.gov

Wolfman Shaun
When Shaun Ellis came upon three abandoned wolf pups, he decided to raise them to be wild in a most unconventional way — by pretending to be a wolf himself. Ellis has spent his entire life studying the behavior of wolves and their interaction with humans. The National Geographic Channel followed Ellis' fascinating pursuit, producing a documentary called "A Man Among Wolves" that airs April 16.

The day after Today a long time ago
On April 9, 1865 Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia (26,765 troops) to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia, effectively ending the American Civil War.

(I just had to skip forward a day to cover this historical date in our history)

"Binny" Laden hanging out in Iran
Osama bin Laden's son, Saad bin Laden, and a number of leaders of the al-Qaeda terrorist network are in Iran, according to a group of terrorism experts featured in a programme on the Arabic satellite television channel Al Arabiya. According to these experts, the leader of al-Qaeda's old guard have either been arrested or are free but under the surveillance of Iranian authorities. Among these al-Qaeda members is Saad bin Laden, as well as Sayf al-Adel, the former spokesperson of the group, as well as Suleyman Abu al-Ghaith, Muhammad Shouki al-Islambuli and other Arab terrorists. ...Continued...

Please God, let Cheney run
In an editorial entitled “Cheney’s Chance,” the New York Sun encourages Vice President Cheney to run for president. The Sun claims that, were he in the race, “it’s hard to imagine that the president’s approval ratings would not be five or 10 points higher” because the administration would have “a defender on the campaign trail.” Note: Cheney’s approval is even lower than Bush’s.

DNC Shuts Out Fox
Fox News may have landed a Democratic debate, but the Democratic Party is refusing to give its formal stamp of approval to the September event, which will be co-sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus Institute. “The DNC sanctioned debates will not include Fox," says DNC Communications Director Karen Finney in an email.

Bush just scaring his sheep
In speech after speech, in statement after statement, Bush insists that "this is a war in which, if we were to leave before the job is done, the enemy would follow us here." The line, which Bush repeated Wednesday in a speech to troops at California's Fort Irwin, suggests a chilling picture of warfare on American streets. But is it true?

Military and diplomatic analysts say it isn't. They accuse Bush of exaggerating the threat that enemy forces in Iraq pose to the U.S. mainland. "The president is using a primitive, inarticulate argument that leaves him open to criticism and caricature," said James Jay Carafano, a homeland security and counterterrorism expert for the Heritage Foundation, a conservative policy organization. "It's a poor choice of words that doesn't convey the essence of the problem - that walking away from a problem doesn't solve anything."

The Limbaugh/HD Award
This week's winner of the Limbaugh/HD Award is Mr. 'Five Deferments' Dickhead Cheney

This week was by far the toughest to choose a winner that lies at the level of a Limbaugh or a HD. The selection committee battled for hours over who was worthy enough for this shameful award - even considering one of the two namesakes. But in the end, the committee chose probably the most despicable American in our lifetime: Dick 'the champion chickenhawk' Cheney.

There was Newt Gingrich who lied about Democrats 'not passing a resolution condenming Iran before they left on vacation', when they in fact passed a resolution doing just that.

You had Matt Drudge completely making up his lie about Michael Ware disrupting Mr. Straight Talk's press conference.

Mitt "Flipper" Romney almost won by claiming to be a 'lifelong hunter', only to sheepishly admit that he's only hunted twice in his flip flopping life. This by the way, is very similiar to the lying HD, who for years squawked about the 2nd Amendment and didn't buy his first gun until a couple of years ago.

And then there was Orrin Hatch and the Oxycotin Pigboy Pedophile, Rush himself, stating that fired U.S. Attorney, Carol Lam was 'just a law professor with no prosecutorial experience' and , 'appointed by President Clinton' and she was 'Clinton's former campaign manager in Southern California". And of course, Lam was never a law professor, had 15 years of prosecutorial experience, was appointed by Bush and never worked as a campaign manager.

But the committee decided in the end that it had to be Dick Cheney. With his leading role in the lies that needlessly caused the deaths of 3,271 young Americans, 24,314 wounded and the waste of $500 billion, along with the fact that he continues to lie about the bogus and many times disproven connection between Iraq and al-Qaeda, he's more than deserving of the Limbaugh/HD Award.

There is no more despicable person in America than this week's winner and justice won't be served until he, and his assistant, W, pay for their crimes.

Congratulations on winning the 7th Limbaugh/HD Award for pathological lying, Dickhead.
