Did someone say 'documents'?

I heard Sean Hannity whining today about some documents relating to Hillary Clinton and her days as First Lady. Seems, according to Hannity, she's somehow withholding these documents from public scrutiny.

I wonder if Hannity will be consistent and demand Bush turn over the 600 pages of documents he's withholding on his administration's contact with convicted criminal, Jack Abramoff?

I mean, after all, we know there were crimes committed by Abramoff and why would the White House have 600 pages* of documents on a person no one in the White House even knew when they were all asked the question the first time?

I just watched Hannity & Colmes and Hannity never mentioned today's breaking news. So much for 'fair and balanced'.

Here (below) is a letter that Congressman Henry Waxman wrote today to Bush's attorney Fred Fielding demanding they turn over those documents on Abramoff. Bush can't cry 'national security' on Jack Abramoff.

Wingnuts can't have it both ways. If you're going to whine about documents from Hillary Clinton when she was 'baking cookies', you certainly cannot defend the White House withholding 600 pages of documents about a convicted felon that they've already been caught lying about.

Well, I guess you can .... because you know you will.

Dear Mr. Fielding:

The White House is withholding hundreds of pages of documents about the activities of convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff on the grounds that these documents involve internal White House deliberations. Unless the President is prepared to assert executive privilege over these documents, they should be turned over to the Oversight Committee without further delay.

When Mr. Abramoff pleaded guilty to corruption charges in January 2006, White House officials stated emphatically that Mr. Abramoff was a virtual stranger to the White House. President Bush said, "I don't know him." White House spokesman Scott McClellan asserted that "there were only a couple of holiday receptions that he attended, then a few staff-level meetings on top of that." Through a spokesperson, Karl Rove, then Senior Advisor to the President, said, "Mr. Rove remembers they had met at a political event in the 1990s. "Since then, he would describe him as a casual acquaintance." Ken Mehlman, the former Director of the White House Office of Political Affairs, said: "Well, Abramoff is someone who we don't know a lot about. We know what we read in the paper." [Continue reading Waxman's letter here - pdf]

Update-*There are actually 4,300 pages of documents from the White House relating to Abramoff. They are withholding 600 pages. They hardly knew him.

Al-Qaeda boy arrested for starting California fire

"A fire that charred more than 38,000 acres and destroyed 21 homes in northern Los Angeles County last week was sparked by a boy playing with matches, sheriff's officials said Tuesday."

"How dare this king give us a lecture on terrorism?"

"The Queen is due to officially welcome King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia in a lavish ceremony amid burgeoning controversy over his visit to Britain.

... King Abdullah was embroiled in controversy even before his convoy of five planes touched down in London on Monday, having insisted in a BBC interview that Britain was not doing enough to tackle terrorism."
Looks like the Queen is a Saudi royal family bootlicker just like the Bush family.

So what if the Saudis are supplying the foreign 'terrorists' and the weapons that kill our guys? They have a hell of a lot of oil.

Tax Injustice

One of the world's richest men, Warren Buffett, says the U.S. tax system favors the rich and is in favor of revamping the tax code.

Buffet demonstrates how 15 people in his office paid an average 32.9% in taxes, while he paid 17.7%.

Four minute video that shows the tax injustice in this country.

Wrong 'cabinet' again, Dick?
Dick Cheney was caught dozing off on live television during an emergency cabinet meeting called on Wednesday to coordinate federal efforts to deal with the devastating California wildfires.
[And of course, we all remember Cheney when China's president Hu visited the White House.]

Didn't that already happen?

The human race will one day split into two separate species, an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures, according to a top scientist.

Uh oh ... not what they signed up for
“Facing staff shortages in Iraq, the State Department announced Friday that diplomats would have no choice but to accept one-year postings in the hostile environment or face losing their jobs.”

What building?
New commercial satellite photos show that a Syrian site believed to have been attacked by Israel last month no longer bears any obvious traces of what some analysts said appeared to have been a partly built nuclear reactor. Two photos, taken Wednesday from space by rival companies, show the site near the Euphrates River to have been wiped clean since August, when imagery showed a tall square building there measuring about 150 feet on a side.

First lady Laura Bush helped launch a screening facility in Saudi Arabia Tuesday as part of a U.S.-Saudi initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in the oil-rich kingdom.

After a late morning photo-op with King Abdullah, Mrs. Bush rushed back to Washington to be at her husband's side when he signed his veto on health care for 10 million American kids.

Speaking at Columbia University today for the culmination of Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, right winger David Horowitz compared the negative reception his campaign has received on campus to the recent incident of a noose being hung on the door of a black professor at Columbia. Even Republicans are tired of Bush's leaks!
Bush has consistently refused to comment on leaked claims that US intelligence believes the target of an Israeli raid in Syria on September 6 was a nuclear rector being built for Syria by North Korea. Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, and Rep. Ileana Ross-Lehtinen (R-FL), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, say that they have been briefed on the intelligence but many members of Congress have not. They are accusing the administration in a Wall Street Journal op-ed of "using selective leaks", thereby "preventing due diligence and oversight."
$12 billion a month wasn't enough
Bush has sent an emergency request to the U.S. Congress for an extra $46 billion in expedited funds for Iraq, Afghanistan and other national security needs. VOA White House correspondent Paula Wolfson reports the money is in addition to the $145 billion in war-related spending included in his original 2008 budget.
[$14-$15 billion a month for Iraq. Congress wants to provide health insurance for 10 million kids for a mere $7 billion a year, and wingnuts (20% total, anyway) go ballistic.]

George W. Bush, despite all his recent bravado about being an apostle of small government and budget-slashing, has spent the most of any president since Lyndon B. Johnson. In fact, he's arguably an even bigger spender than LBJ. "He's a big-government guy," said Stephen Slivinski, director of budget studies at the Cato Institute, a libertarian research group.
[And, keep in mind -- That graphic only shows discretionary spending.]

The Limbaugh Award

Ladies and gentlemen, after an almost 6 month hiatus, Bill 'Loofa' O'Reilly, the uncultured wussy, (as opposed to 'culture warrior') has once again won the prestigious, but infamous, Limbaugh Award.

O'Reilly, who also won week #11, won this week by spending a good part of it accusing CNN and MSNBC of "ignoring the Medal of Honor awarded to Lieutenant Michael Murphy", in their news coverage.

But, as Media Matters pointed out, on the day Bush presented the award to Lt. Murphy's parents, Oct. 22, CNN ran seven news stories and MSNBC ran five, on the honor bestowed upon, Lt. Michael P. Murphy.

Sort of reminds me of another flag-waving, pom-pom twirling, phony-patriot chickenhawk, who wrote a comment on my post about Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, whining that the New York Times had not written about him.

Well, the New York Times wrote their story on Lt. Murphy, pom-pom boy -- Where's yours?

Back to the task at hand. Congratulations, O'Reilly - You're #35.

Pro-Choice

My youngest son and I, he's 16, went to the benefit for Ashleigh O'Dea tonight.

Happily, it seemed fairly well attended. But $100,000 is a lot of money. I have no clue how well those types of benefits do -- But there were not a lot of millioniares there.

I figure if everyone who reads this blog gave $5, we could raise $25.

But, if you put her story up on your blog, too -- maybe we could raise a little more.

Pro-life?

With an inoperable brain tumor, doctors have given 2-year-old Ashleigh O'Dea six months to live.

There is one hope for the Hartland Township girl — experimental, expensive gene therapy treatment at a clinic in Houston.

But the family's insurance won't cover the $100,000 tab, which is why neighbors, friends and relatives are coming together in hopes of helping Bob and Amy O'Dea defray some of those costs for their daughter.

"If anybody has a child or knows someone that has a child, just think for one minute what you would feel like if that was your child or niece or your grandchild," said neighbor Lynn Sypniewski, who is helping to organize two of the upcoming benefits.

"You would do everything in your power to help that person. That's how we feel."

The first of three benefits, two of which are being organized chiefly by neighbors, will be a pasta dinner, bake sale, raffle and silent auction from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 1230 Bower St., Howell.

The second benefit is a "Cut-A-Thon" at Allure Salon, 9544 M-59, Hartland Township.

All proceeds from 3-8 p.m. Nov. 5 will go to the O'Deas.
Why does the American health system require individuals to raise money to save the life of a little girl? How can an insurance company refuse to cover a treatment that could possibly save Ashleigh's life? The best health care system in the world?
Happy Birthday, Bubba

The 'leakiest' administration in history up to its old tricks
Allegations that a Syrian envoy admitted during a United Nations meeting Oct. 17 that an Israeli air strike hit a nuclear facility in September are inaccurate and have raised the ire of some in the US intelligence community, who see the Vice President's hand as allegedly being behind the disinformation.... What concerns intelligence officials is what appears to be manipulation of the press and strategic leaks to the public of false information, undercutting professional intelligence analysis, similar to what occurred before the Iraq war in an apparent effort to bolster support for engaging Iran.

Mr. Dodd Goes to Washington
Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.) announced in a breathless press release this afternoon that he would block the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) "from being considered by the full Senate and from receiving a vote on the Senate floor." The statement came as the Senate Intelligence Committee met to consider the legislation -- and weeks before it is likely to reach the floor.

The Limbaugh Award

For the first time in the long history of The Limbaugh Award - awarded here weekly to the liar of the week - I was overridden by the esteemed selection committee. My point with the committee was that giving the award to Limbaugh again was like stating that George Bush is the worst president in history. Duh. I mean, come on, this prestigious award wouldn't be named after Mr. phony-patriot pig boy if he wasn't a well known pathological liar. But they wouldn't budge since his lie this week dealt with his despicable attack on a 12 year old, badly injured young boy.

As most of you know by now, Limbaugh attacked 12 year old Graeme Frost, calling him a liar. But when the disgusting rightwing smear campaign turned out to be wrong, of course, pig-boy tried to back-peddle and say he didn't attack Graeme. But unfortunately for Limbaugh, there's a transcript and audio - and just as when he called the majority of our soldiers in Iraq, 'phony soldiers', he can't say he was 'misquoted'.

"So the bottom line for me is: They can't rely on truth to make their case for their cause. They have to lie. [...] They send the kid out to lie..."
And if you listen to the audio at the link above from AlterNet you will hear Limbaugh, the despicable piece of human excrement, mock the voice of Graeme Frost -- a young 12 year old who has a paralyzed vocal cord from his accident. You can't get any lower than that.

But then again, maybe we shouldn't be surprised since we all remember Limbaugh mocking Michael J. Fox's Parkinsons disease.

And one more thing to add about Limbaugh to give you an idea of just how classless he is; Limbaugh says he doesn't go after kids? Oh really? That's ironic since just this week he admitted he threatened a journalist with this comment; "We're going to find out where your kids go to school."

That's not a threat and an attack against kids? Those are his words said very plainly by him on his show, but I'm sure he and all his shameless defenders will lie again and say he was misquoted or taken out of context. Well, it won't work.

The committee is right. Limbaugh, who just like his biggest fans, attacks and threatens kids, women and the disabled, but runs and hides from real men, is well deserving of this 'prestigious, but infamous', award.

Geez, I wonder why he would do that?

Bush gives Saudi buddies a free pass

George Bush certified Saudi Arabia as an anti-terrorism ally on Friday, weeks after a top US Treasury official sharply criticized the kingdom's record.

Stuart Levey, the undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, told the US network ABC that not a single individual identified by the United States or the United Nations as a terror financier had been prosecuted by Saudi Arabia.

"If I could somehow snap my fingers and cut off the funding from one country, it would be Saudi Arabia," Levey told the television network one day after the sixth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

"When the evidence is clear that these individuals have funded terrorist organizations, and knowingly done so, then that should be prosecuted and treated as real terrorism because it is," Levey told ABC.
So you don't think Bush is 'amused' by our soldiers getting their heads blown off? Oh yeah, then why does he keep giving his Saudi buddies a free pass when he knows they are supplying almost half of all the foreign fighters and most of the financial backing of those who kill our troops?

Fifteen of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 were Saudis ... Osama bin Laden is a Saudi and the Saudis continue to supply the fighters and the cash needed to kill our troops but Bush continues to look the other way.

Why does Bush continue to support the Saudis when even those in his administration state they are behind the majority of attacks against our troops?

I wonder why that is?

“No, big fat no, N-O”

Not quite the way they planned it

The Iraqi government has “put the U.S. on notice” that they do not want permanent U.S. bases in Iraq, CNN reports today. The message was “delivered directly to Vice President Dick Cheney at the White House” by Iraqi National Security Adviser Mowaffak Al-Rubaie, who told CNN that Iraqis say, “No, big fat no, N-O for the bases in Iraq” .
I guess things are not turning out quite the way the Bush criminal neocons thought they would.

It was suppose to be a 'cakewalk', paid for with the Iraq oil revenue and be over "relatively quickly, . . . (in) weeks rather than months." But of course, it's been 55 months, 3,830 dead, 28,000 wounded and the cost will easily top $2 trillion.

And for what? Absolutely nothing. All for a pack of lies and all because the sheep were too dumb and too weak to stand up and say no.

Impeachment is not enough punishment for these criminals. The next president who takes office should immediately arrest these treasonous war criminals on the very first day they take office.

And so much for that 'beachhead'. The Iraqis apparently don't see us as 'liberators' and they have other ideas as to who will be their new partners.

We've been fucked, and we didn't even get a kiss. -- Goddamn dumbass sheople!

Curveball                 In his new book, "Curveball: Spies, Lies, and the Con Man Who Caused a War," Los Angeles Times reporter Bob Drogin gives the most comprehensive account to date of the man who was the source of much of the faulty intelligence about weapons of mass destruction that was used to justify the U.S. invasion. Drogin explains how "Curveball," a still-anonymous Iraqi who defected to Germany in 1999, came to be a principal source for American intelligence, even though the CIA didn't even know who he really was until after the war had begun.
'Curveball', the man Bush, Colin Powell and the rest of the warmongering neocons used to lie us into the needless invasion, and disastrous occupation, of Iraq.

A dozen more 'phony soldiers'!
The Real Iraq We Knew

By 12 former Army captains

Today marks five years since the authorization of military force in Iraq, setting Operation Iraqi Freedom in motion. Five years on, the Iraq war is as undermanned and under-resourced as it was from the start. And, five years on, Iraq is in shambles.

As Army captains who served in Baghdad and beyond, we've seen the corruption and the sectarian division. We understand what it's like to be stretched too thin. And we know when it's time to get out.
Since these 12 captains support leaving Iraq and are against Bush's policy, they must be considered 'phony soldiers' by the likes of Limbaugh and other military-hating wingnuts.

Does anyone know if Mr. Oxycotin pig-boy disparaged these guys yet?

Stick a fork in him, he's done

Illinois Sen. Barack Obama may have a distant cousin he's not too happy about.

In an interview with MSNBC today Lynne Cheney, wife of Vice President Dick Cheney, admitted that she discovered that "Dick and Barack Obama are eighth cousins," going back eight generations and having a common ancestor.

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton responded today saying, "Obviously Dick Cheney is sort of the black sheep of the family.
I know you can't pick your relatives - especially those eight generations ago - but this revelation about Barack Obama is undoubtedly the end of what could have been a promising career.

It's that old 'one drop' theory thing.

Why are all those people laughing?

Fiscal responsibility? Bush has borrowed more money than the 42 presidents before him combined! Since he's been in the White House, we have had to raise the debt ceiling to nearly $10 trillion, an increase of $4.4 trillion in less than 7 years.

Fiscal responsibility? That's hilarious!

More than justified, Ricky
Retired Army Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, who led coalition forces from June 2003 to June 2004, used an Oct. 12 speech to a conference of Military Reporters and Editors in Arlington, Virginia, to castigate nearly everyone connected to the Iraq War, including the U.S. news media, Congress, the State Department, the White House and the Pentagon. “There has been a glaring, unfortunate display of incompetence in strategic leadership among our national leaders,” Sanchez said. “They have unquestionably been derelict in the performance of their duty. In my profession, these types of leaders would be immediately relieved or court-martialed.”

Look for another bin Laden tape
WASHINGTON - House Democrats pushed their government eavesdropping bill through two committees Wednesday with only minor changes, setting the stage for a confrontation with the Bush administration. Bush said that he will not sign the bill if it does not give retroactive immunity to U.S. telecommunications companies that helped conduct electronic surveillance without court orders.

What a state
His GOP colleagues in the U.S. Senate may wish him gone. But Larry Craig will always have a home in the Idaho Hall of Fame. This Saturday [yesterday] in Boise, Craig will join 11 other distinguished citizens of the Gem State in what promises to be a squirm-worthy induction ceremony.

Sir Paul McCartney is heading for a bitter courtroom showdown with Heather Mills after they failed to agree an amicable divorce settlement, sources said on Friday. It has been claimed that Sir Paul, 65, had offered his estranged wife £50 million of his £825m fortune if she agreed to remain silent on their marriage. But she was willing to accept as much as £15m less in return for retaining her right to speak.

NASCAR cooties and war booty
Homeland Security Committee planned a fact-finding trip about public health preparedness at mass gatherings and decided to conduct the research at two of the nation's most heavily attended sporting events, NASCAR's Bank of America 500 event this weekend and the UAW-Ford 500 last weekend. Staff who organized the trips advised the NASCAR-bound aides to get a range of vaccines before attending -- hepatitis A, hepatitis B, tetanus, diphtheria and influenza.
[I heard a great proposal on how to pay for the Iraq Occupation the other day. Charge a $200 surcharge on NASCAR tickets! After all, those badass rednecks all support the occupation, so let them pay for it. Of course, did you ever wonder why all those flagwaving Chickenhawks are sitting on their fatasses watching cars go around in a circle and not in Iraq? Of course you didn't - chances are good, [3 out of 10] you're just like them! Put up, or shut up, Chickenshits!]

Tell Putin to fuck off!
It may not be the Cold War again, but U.S.-Russian relations are getting chilly. Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates to his residence outside Moscow today by making them wait 40 minutes and then delivering a stern lecture before a room full of reporters.
[The little asshole Putin ought to shut the fuck up and try to get his country into the 21st century.]

Sound familiar, Madam Secretary?
The Russian government under Vladimir Putin has amassed so much central authority that the power-grab may undermine Moscow's commitment to democracy, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Saturday. "In any country, if you don't have countervailing institutions, the power of any one president is problematic for democratic development," Rice told reporters after meeting with human-rights activists.

Call your lawyer?
Asked at Tuesday's debate whether the president would need authorization from Congress to attack Iran, Mitt Romney replied, "You sit down with your attorneys and tell you want you have to do ..." Asked whether Bush needed that authorization, Romney replied, "You know, we're going to let the lawyers sort out what he needed to do and what he didn't need to do..."

"According to Iraqi law, as president, Talabani must sign Hashim's death sentence. He must approve the execution of a man with whom he conspired against Saddam, a man he introduced to the CIA. Last month, Talabani told a press conference that he will not do it." "I used to urge him to rebel against the government, and he used to cooperate," Talabani said last month."So how can I now authorize his execution? I just can’t."'From Ally to Adversary' by Richard Engel

'Do nothing' House?
They may be bogged down in debate over children's health, appropriations and Iraq, but nobody can say the House isn't prolific in its most fundamental duty -- voting on legislation. The House last week held its 943rd roll call vote of the year, breaking the previous record of 942 votes, a mark set in 1978. The vote was on a procedural motion related to a mortgage foreclosure bill. When the House adjourned on Oct. 4 for the long weekend, the chamber had reached 948 roll call votes, putting Democrats on pace to easily eclipse 1,000 votes on the House floor in 2007.

Performance artists are known for pushing the bounderies, but one Australian has astonished his contemporaries by having a third ear implanted onto his arm. The Cypriot-born eccentric Stelios Arcadious spent 10 years searching for a surgeon willing to perform the controversial operation. He got his wish after working as a Research Fellow at Nottingham Trent University's Digital Research Unit. The ear was grown in a lab from cells and implanted into the 61-year-olds left forearm in 2006.

Oh that's right - never mind ...
The House overwhelmingly passed a measure Tuesday that would prohibit “war profiteering” by contractors. The bill (HR 400), sponsored by Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawaii, would ban fraud against the United States or “a provisional authority” — such as the Coalition Provisional Authority that governed Iraq in 2003 and 2004 — in connection with a war, military action, or relief or reconstruction activities. It passed by a vote of 375-3.
[I was wondering why it took five years to come up with this type of law and then I remembered who ran all three branches of government up until last January. Never mind.]

The Osprey has landed--in Iraq, and in the history books. One of the most controversial aircraft in recent aviation history, the tilt-rotor V-22 Osprey has come in for criticism over the many years of its development for reasons ranging from financial costs to fatal crashes to its novel and rather ungainly design: it flies like both a helicopter and a fixed-wing plane. Al-Qaeda Lite
BAGHDAD • Leading Iraqi Sunni cleric Harith Al Dhari has urged Iraqis not to join US forces in fighting Al Qaeda, arguing that by doing so they are siding with the occupier. “A decision to stand beside the occupying enemy in order to achieve a wish to stay in Iraq under the pretext of destroying Al Qaeda is neither accepted legally nor on patriotic or rational grounds,” said Dhari, head of the influential Muslim Scholars’ Association. “We do not accept the acts of Al Qaeda,” Dhari said in an interview with Qatari-based television channel Al-Jazeera posted yesterday on the website of the Muslim Scholars’ Association, Iraq’s main Sunni clerics’ organisation. “We reject their ideas but Al Qaeda remains part of us and we are part of it. Ninety per cent of Al Qaeda members are now Iraqis,” he added. “We can talk to them. We can reform them and God may bless them to resort to wisdom.”
[There you go - Proof of what many have said all along. When Petraeus or Bush say we're 'fighting al-Qaeda' in Iraq, you now know they're jerking your chain - lying to justify us staying there. 'Ninety percent' of 'al-Qaeda in Iraq' are Iraqis, who merely took up the 'brand'. And do you know who agrees with me? The Marines! We leave, and the Iraqis will take care of the 10%. It's their goddamn problem anyway, sheople-Wake up!]

"The colonel was furious. "Can you believe it? They actually drew their weapons on U.S. soldiers." He was describing a 2006 car accident, in which an SUV full of Blackwater operatives had crashed into a U.S. Army Humvee on a street in Baghdad's Green Zone. The colonel, who was involved in a follow-up investigation and spoke on the condition he not be named, said the Blackwater guards disarmed the U.S. Army soldiers and made them lie on the ground at gunpoint until they could disentangle the SUV. His account was confirmed by the head of another private security company. ... "Their attitude was, 'We're f---ing security; we don't have to answer to anybody'." Congress [NOW] disagrees.
[That's right, the Democratic majority in Congress will NOW put a stop to these out of control cowboys. ... Disarm and make our soldiers lie in the dirt? Give them their orders, Colonel.]

Why they are wingNuts II
By Michelle Malkin • August 27, 2004 07:29 AM
"After my husband quit his job earlier this year (to become a full-time stay-at-home dad), we had a choice. We could either buy health insurance from his former employer through a program called COBRA at a cost of more than $1,000 per month(!) or we could go it alone in Maryland’s individual market. Given our financial circumstances, that “choice” wasn’t much of a choice at all. We had to go on our own. We discovered that the most generous plans in Maryland’s individual market cost $700 per month yet provide no more than $1,500 per year of prescription drug coverage–a drop in the bucket if someone in our family were to be diagnosed with a serious illness. With health insurance choices like that, no wonder so many people opt to go uninsured."
[And I'm sure Malkin was earning more than $45,000 a year and she doesn't have four children.]

The Limbaugh Award

The esteemed selection committee wanted to select a 'fresh' face for this week's award and instead they came up with a face that only an inbred mother could love; Ladies and gentlemen, this week's winner, of the 'prestigious, but infamous' award for liars, is Kentucky's Fried Chicken Senator, and Senate Minority Leader, Mr. Mitch 'Switch Hittin' McConnell.

McConnell, always known as a sleazy, despicable and closeted 'Old Kentucky Homo', [how fitting for a Republican leader, huh?] who's sham and 'bearded' marriage to Bush's Secretary of Labor, Elaine Chao, [Boy, doesn't that Party just ooze with 'family-values'?] is DC's worst kept secret, tried this week to hide behind one of his staffers, and smear 12 year old, badly injured, Graeme Frost and his family.

That's even despicable by Republican standards!

The Medal of Honor

Two years after his death in a harrowing firefight on a mountaintop in Afghanistan, Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a SEAL from Patchogue, N.Y., will receive the nation’s highest combat honor, Navy officials said.

A Navy spokeswoman confirmed Oct. 11 the decision by President Bush approving the posthumous award of the Medal of Honor, the first for the Navy for the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Murphy, 29, was leading a four-man reconnaissance and surveillance team during Operation Red Wing in Afghanistan’s rugged Hindu Kush mountains June 28, 2005, when the team was spotted by Taliban fighters. During the intense battle that followed, Murphy and two of his men — Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class (SEAL) Danny Dietz and Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class (SEAL) Matthew Axelson — were killed. A fourth man, then-Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class (SEAL) Marcus Luttrell, was seriously wounded and knocked unconscious, but managed to escape. Luttrell was rescued days later.

Murphy was killed while phoning in for reinforcements. The tragedy continued when enemy fighters shot down one of the transport helicopters carrying the rescue force, killing eight more SEALs and eight Special Forces operators. The 11 SEALs killed marked the largest single-day loss of life for the tight-knit community.

Bush will present the Medal of Honor to Murphy’s parents, Daniel and Maureen, and his brother, John, on Oct. 22 at a 2:30 p.m. ceremony in the White House.

Soldier from St. Clair Shores killed

A U.S. Army military police officer from St. Clair Shores died in Iraq on Thursday when an explosive device detonated near his unit, the Department of Defense announced Friday.

Staff Sgt. Donald L. Munn II, 25, was leading his platoon on a mission when he sensed something was wrong, according to his grandmother, Dorothy Richards of St. Clair Shores. Munn focused on getting all of his men out safely but he was the last to leave when the bomb exploded.

Not guilty?

Do you remember the video of those eight boot camp guards beating to death that young 14 year old black kid a couple of years ago? [Actually, it was 1/6/06] But, you do remember, right?

Well, in case you forgot, his name was Martin Lee Anderson, he was 14, and keep in mind, his crime was stealing his Grandma's car and trespassing, but he got the death penalty.

And today, a jury took 90 minutes to decide that all of the guards, who beat on this kid for 30 minutes, were all 'not guilty'. You see, it seems, Martin Lee Anderson died of sickle cell anemia.

Watch this video and tell me what the hell would you do if that was your 14 year old son?

I know what the hell I would do.

Here's a report on today's ridiculous verdict.

9 Children Killed in U.S. Raid in Iraq

BAGHDAD (AP) - A U.S. attack killed 19 insurgents and 15 civilians, including nine children, northwest of the capital Thursday - one of the heaviest civilian death tolls in an American operation in recent months. The military said it was targeting senior leaders of al-Qaida in Iraq.
Hey, what the hell, we killed more bad guys than kids!

And so what if the 15 civilians could have possibly been innocent bystanders caught up in the circumstance of bad guys escaping and taking cover?
"The first air attack killed ''four terrorists,'' said [The military] statement.

The military said it then tracked some of those who escaped the initial attack to a place south of Lake Tharthar. It said ground forces moved on the site and came under fire. Air support was called in.

''After securing the area, the ground force assessed 15 terrorists, six women and nine children were killed,'' the statement said."
You know, I guess we Americans should not sweat the small stuff. War is hell. Especially needless wars that serve absolutely no purpose.

When in doubt, call in the F-18's and blow the place to Kingdom Come!

Fuck 'em -- Let God separate 'em.

Your history lesson

"The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries." -- James Madison, 1803

What do you think Madison meant by that? Was he concerned that (A) religious people would be persecuted or, (B) the 'Church', like they did in Europe 'for centuries', would 'soak the soil with the blood' of those who didn't adhere?

If you answered 'A', you're ignorant of history and don't know the facts laid out in the U.S. Constitution by the Founders and Framers of this country. If you answered 'B', you get it.

"Strongly guarded as is the separation between Religion & Govt in the Constitution of the United States the danger of encroachment by Ecclesiastical Bodies, may be illustrated by precedents already furnished in their short history [ttempts where religious bodies had already tried to encroach on the government]." -- James Madison, Detached Memoranda, 1820

"Ecclesiastical establishments tend to great ignorance and corruption, all of which facilitate the execution of mischievous projects." -- James Madison, letter to William Bradford, Jr., January 1774

The Constitution protects the American people from religion, not the other way around.

And that's from the man who wrote it.

Marines want to fight the real war on terror

The Marine Corps is pressing to remove its forces from Iraq and to send marines instead to Afghanistan, to take over the leading role in combat there, according to senior military and Pentagon officials.

The idea by the Marine Corps commandant [Gen. James T. Conway] would effectively leave the Iraq war in the hands of the Army while giving the Marines a prominent new role in Afghanistan, under overall NATO command.
Surrender monkeys, I guess.

The Marines want to fight the real fight, the real war, where the real terrorists who attacked us are.

And, 'under NATO'? That's right, we turned the 'real' mission over to NATO well over a year ago.

Funny, I don't remember any outrage over that when it happened.

Conflicting intelligence leaves kidnapped soldiers’ fate unknown

Young Michigander, Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, among missing for 5 months

Conflicting intelligence has emerged recently on whether troops kidnapped in southern Baghdad earlier this year are alive, a U.S. commander said Friday.

Spc. Alex R. Jimenez and Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, both of the 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, were abducted after a May 12 ambush on U.S. soldiers manning a military observation post near Yusufiyah.

“In the last week, we received one significant intelligence thread that indicated that at least they were potentially alive recently, but another that said they had been killed shortly after the attack, and we have followed both as we’ve investigated them and indeed conducted operations last night along with other coalition forces to capture and detain others who might be associated with that attack,” Col. Michael Kershaw said.
Bin Laden may be in city, not cave

"Osama bin Laden could hide more easily in a city than a remote tribal region, a former Pakistani intelligence chief said on Tuesday, challenging the notion that the al Qaeda leader is probably holed up in a mountain cave.

Lieutenant-General Asad Durrani, former head of the powerful Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI), said news of outsiders' presence travels fast in the tribal areas and it would be hard to keep it secret for years."
The way these ignorant fools operate I wouldn't doubt bin Laden could be living in DC.
