Senate Panel Votes to Raise Debt Limit to $10 Trillion
The Senate Finance Committee approved legislation Wednesday [9/12] to raise the debt limit to nearly $10 trillion.
The current statutory ceiling on the federal debt is $8.965 trillion. The measure (H J Res 43) approved by the committee by voice vote would boost that limit by $850 billion to $9.815 trillion.
When Bush took office the debt ceiling was $5.6 trillion.
Ah, what the hell, what's another $4.2 trillion among 300 million close friends?
-- $14,000 each.
-- $14,000 for every man, woman and child.
How's that tax cut and home equity working out for you?
