Sunday Scroll #81

Start your Sunday morning with this
The best editorial I've read in years rightfully nails McCain as neck-deep in today's financial scandals and how he and his camp don't blink while they lie about their record.

We were warned about these people
"In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty". - Thomas Jefferson

You're right, and look what it got us
“You are interviewing the greatest free trader you will ever interview, and the greatest deregulator you will ever interview.” [A trillion dollar bailout brought to you by none other than McCain and his deregulating buddies!]

Nuts come in all colors
CORAL GABLES, FLA.) - Barack Obama’s rally at the University of Miami was briefly interrupted today after a dozen or so protestors began to wave homemade signs. The group of mostly African American men held signs that read, “Blacks against Obama”, “Jesse Jackson hates Obama”, “Obama for abortions”, “Obama for gay marriage” and “Obama endorsed by the KKK.” They are said to be part of a Miami based group called “Michael Warns” .
[Well, I guess fanatically weird religious nutcases are not limited to racist white evangelical protestants. And see, some Blacks are 'conservatives'. Must be part of that 9%.]

Yankee Stadium, the old and the new
NEW YORK (AFP) — The New York Yankees will end their 85-year residence in the House that Ruth Built on Sunday, when Yankee Stadium hosts its last baseball game. While the Yankees have been the primary occupants of the fabled stadium in the New York borough of the Bronx, football players, prize fighters and popes have added to its aura. Baseball icon Ruth himself inaugurated the stadium, belting a three-run homer in the first game ever played there in 1923. It was a foreshadowing of what was to come, as 26 World Series-winning Yankees teams have called Yankee Stadium home.
[Click on that picture and get an idea of the size of the new $1.3 billion Yankee Stadium]

So much for those Hillary voters, bitch
One week ago, after the Republican National Convention had nominated John McCain and Sarah Palin, the Republican ticket enjoyed a 53-34 lead among white women over Democrats Barack Obama and Joe Biden, according to polling conducted for CBS and the New York Times. What a difference a week can make. The new CBS/New York Times poll has the Biden-Obama ticket leading among white women by a 47-45 margin.
[Women can always detect a phony, lying fraud.]

'Who's Whining Now?'
Gramm Slammed By Economists
Phil Gramm, John McCain's former economic adviser, left the campaign in July when he tried to counter criticism of the Republican candidate's economic policies by asserting that the country "had become a nation of whiners" in a "mental recession."
Economic experts say that Gramm and others are to blame for the current crisis that is shaking Wall Street. Gramm's successful effort to pass banking reform laws in 1999, which reduced decades-old regulations separating banking, insurance and brokerage activities, helped to create the current economic crisis.
[Phil Gramm, the man who gave us the "Enron loophole" and who is now known as the major perpetrator of what could be our second Great Republican Depression. Thank Gramm, McCain and Republican 'deregulators'.]Why do we elect Republicans?
The Great Depression was caused not by a stock crash but by a banking system left to self-destruct by a conservative president who, like John McCain today, insisted that the economy's "fundamentals" were strong.-[We have a $9.7 trillion debt that is directly linked to Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush and we are even considering voting for another Republican? Are we really that stupid of a country?]

It was 'ethnic cleansing', not the surge
Satellite images taken at night show heavily Sunni Arab neighborhoods of Baghdad began emptying before a U.S. troop surge in 2007, graphic evidence of ethnic cleansing that preceded a drop in violence, according to a report published on Friday. The images support the view of international refugee organizations and Iraq experts that a major population shift was a key factor in the decline in sectarian violence, particularly in the Iraqi capital, the epicenter of the bloodletting in which hundreds of thousands were killed. "Our findings suggest that the surge has had no observable effect, except insofar as it has helped to provide a seal of approval for a process of ethno-sectarian neighborhood homogenization that is now largely achieved."
[The 'Surge'; Another 1,082 Americans wasted and $350 billion squandered, for nothing. Prosecute them all for murder.]

Alaska, our biggest welfare state
In her latest comment on the "Bridge to Nowhere" controversy, Sarah Palin appealed to the self-reliant, individualist, rugged, anti-government image most Americans have of Alaska. "If we wanted a bridge," she declared, "we would build it ourselves." Actually, much of Alaska long ago lost the tradition of self-help. Palin might be campaigning on an anti-government, do-it-yourself platform, but her state is the most dependent on the federal government of all 50 states. Washington sends Alaska more money per capita than any other state. Alaskans receive back from the federal government almost $2 for every $1 they send to Washington. It's a sweet deal. - [With oil royalties, Alaskans receive a $3,200 payout per resident, that's $22,400 for her family of seven, but they still act like a bunch of leaches and demand welfare, or 'pork', from the other 49 states. Alaskans, a bunch of parasites that lead the nation in rape, incest and pork and they want the rest of us to build their 'bridges to nowhere'. We shouldn't allow any of those despicable assholes anywhere near our federal government. Think about it, what type of person moves to Alaska in the first place?]

'Take a Walk on the Supply Side'
The first supply-side era in modern economic history began in earnest in 1981 with huge tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. Although there were modest steps back from these tax cuts in the ensuing years in response to fiscal deficits and tax-sheltering, this first supply-side era didn’t end until the tax hikes of 1993. This respite from supply-side policies ended in 2001, however, when a new set of supply-side tax measures were enacted. Today, as budget shortfalls mount and the economy weakens, the supply-side approach to economic policy is once again up for debate.
[There is no 'debate'. As the article points out, there is no question this country did far better economically from 1993-2001, than 1981-1992 and then again, these last miserable eight years. The years 1993-2001 were paid for in cash, while those 'Repugnant' years gave us our $9.7 trillion debt. Debate? It's not even close.]

One of their biggest lying propagandists
Headline that appeared on the Drudge Report
DOW UP 40 POINTS IN PAST MONTH... UP 18% PAST 5 YEARS... UP 44% PAST 10 YEARS...
As a reader of 'done that', you are fortunately well informed of the facts (you're welcome) and know that is a very misleading attempt by Matt Drudge to cover-up for the miserable failure known as George W. Bush and Bushonomics. Notice how Drudge uses '5 years' and '10 years' with no mention of Bush's '8 years'. So, what is the DOW up over the last '8 years', 7.6%, or a miserable, .094% (for seat bracket inspector flunkies that's less than 1% per year) The DOW is 11,388 now and it was 10,588 when the Dumbass took office. Do the math yourself-if you're capable. If Bush & McCain had gotten their way
What's your favorite dog food?
GREEN BAY, Wisc. (AP) — Wall Street turmoil left John McCain scrambling to explain why the fundamentals of the U.S. economy remained strong. It also left him defending his support for privately investing Social Security money in the same markets that had tanked earlier in the week. Critics also note that one of McCain's top economic advisers is former Texas Sen. Phil Gramm, a free-marketeer who pushed the idea of a privatized retirement system as far back as 1988.
[Keep them fucking economic bankrupting incompetent Republicans away from our Social Security!]

The Limbaugh Award

The selection for the 81st Limbaugh Award, given here weekly at 'done that' to the liar of the week, was a very easy pick.

Ladies and gentlemen, for the third time in the last four weeks, Gov. Sarah 'Pretty Pork Princess Pig' Palin won this 'prestigious, but infamous' award. And, for only the third time in its long, distinguished history, the selection was unanimous! That's right, all 7 Republicans, 4 Independents and both neo-Nazis (Constitution Party) voted for the Pork Princess.

Of course, she continued to lie all week about her support for that bridge. I mean come on, there's video of the bitch saying she supported it.

But not only did she continue that lie, she lied about going to Iraq and she was caught lying once again about supporting 'special needs' kids. That white-trash trailor-park slut cut funding in half for the Alaska Special Olympics!

And on top of that, you have McStupid going around telling people she didn't support any earmarks as governor when in fact, the damn welfare queen wrote a 70 page memo just this past February begging for $200 million and in her two years in office, $750 million!

Sarah Palin is a pathological liar.

It was easy - it was unanimous. Congratulations Pig, you're #81!
