Sunday Scroll #75

What is, "Raised A Christian"?
Good old Fox News -- Do you believe the shit they put out there? Hey Sean, Adolf Hitler was 'raised a Christian'. He wasn't a very good one, but he was 'raised' one, nonetheless. Actually, the "first President not to be 'raised' a Christian" is probably, George Washington. How about Ronnie and Nancy Reagan? I don't know how they were raised but I do know how they ended up and it had more to do with the stars than it did Jesus. And you can bet John McCain didn't make it to church much as a youth - if he did, he didn't learn anything there either. I don't care how Obama was 'raised'. I like the way he acts now. Especially when compared to who he's running against. "Fair and Balanced", my ass! Big h/t to 'News Hounds'.

Oh yeah, well, now what?
Are those guys French, or what?
Georgian soldiers evacuate their base after a Russian bombardment in Gori, 80 km (50 miles) from Tbilisi, August 9, 2008. Russia said it had driven Georgian forces from the capital of South Ossetia on Saturday as part of an operation to force Georgia to accept peace in its breakaway region.

[Bush, McCain and Obama all blow smoke about the Russians kicking the shit out of the Georgians -- by the way wingnuts, that's not the Georgia, -- don't think bulldog ... Check out this map and get back to me on what it is exactly that we could do for them. And of course, we have such a dignified standing in the world when it comes to invasions the Russians will surely be swayed.]

FACT CHECK: Your taxes
The ad also insinuates that Obama would bring "higher taxes" for "your family," another in what has become a pattern of misrepresentations of Obama's tax plan. Obama actually proposes to cut taxes for all but the most affluent families. He wants to restore tax rates to pre-Bush levels only for those making over $250,000 a year.
[It's not even close. Barack Obama's tax plan cuts taxes for far more people than John McCain's. Pay attention, sheople!]

Mr. 'Straight Talk'
When he told the truth and was a fiscal conservative
Just give it 18 seconds
Their racist-wing can't lose
PEARL, Miss. -- They're not exactly rooting for him, but prominent white supremacists anticipate a boost to their cause if Barack Obama becomes the first black president. Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, of Louisiana, said Democrat Obama would be a "visual aid" to the idea that whites have lost control of America. Duke, once a Democrat who became a Republican in 1988 and served in the Louisiana House of Representatives, posted an essay on his Web site in June titled, "Obama Wins Demo Nomination: A Black Flag for White America." Obama "will be a clear signal for millions of our people," Duke wrote.
Now, you know that's not true!
The Financial Times reports that Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) campaign is vetting Sen. Traitor Joe Lieberman (I-CT) as a potential vice presidential running mate. One adviser said, “[McCain] loves Lieberman. And he is on the [short-]list because Lieberman has never embarrassed anyone, never misspoken.
['Never misspoken'? What a joke! As an avid reader of 'done that', you certainly know that's bullshit since Traitor Joe won the 74th Limbaugh Award just last week!]

'One down for Phelps'
BEIJING -- The strains of the "Star-Spangled Banner" rang out over the Water Cube. President Bush, in the stands, waved his own American flag as the big one went up over the pool. And then, just as the song was getting to the part about the land of the free - the song stopped. Atop the podium, Michael Phelps laughed. It was the only glitch in a picture-perfect Sunday morning.

Who didn't see that coming?
John McCain uses Hillary Clinton video
"I think that I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know Sen. McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And Sen. Obama has a speech he gave in 2002."
[I called that the day the dumbass said it]

"Bambi"?
"When it comes to the first movies they watched as kids, both candidates got verklempt by the story lines. McCain said Disney's "Bambi" brought him to tears, while the wildlife film "Born Free" caused Obama to choke up."
[Fucking sissy!]

Warmongers 'R' Us
Dick Cheney, 8/26/02: Regime change in Iraq would bring about a number of benefits to the region.
John McCain, 2/14/03: [O]nly a change of regime will make Iraq a state that does not threaten us and others,..."
John Bolton, 8/6/08: I think regime change [in Iran] would be preferable because I think that would lead to greater stability in the region as a whole.

World's Largest Aircraft
Airbus employees celebrate as the Gulf airline Emirates' first Airbus A380 super jumbo is delivered on July 28, 2008, at the airport in Hamburg Finkenwerder in northern Germany.

August not starting out very well
After losing 13 Americans in Iraq during the month of July, 10 have already died in the first nine days of August.

Will the retraction get the same press?
The Washington Post’s ombudsman says the newspaper’s original source for a quote that was used to portray Barack Obama as a megalomaniac now disputes the Post’s negative interpretation that has spread across cable TV, the Internet and even into a John McCain attack ad.
[Dana Milbank needs to write another Op-ed apologizing to Barack Obama.]

George caught grabbing Olympic ass
I forgot this one, too
Weekly 'Cops need their asses kicked' news story
GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -- An 18-year-old was punched 13 times in the face by a deputy, and it was all caught on tape. The deputy, Brian Tollison, has been fired and had been charged in the incident. In the video, a back-up deputy appears to hold onto the teen while Tollison hits him. When other deputies arrive, the teen is taken out of the truck. The video show other deputies Taser and kick 18-year-old Jeremy Rucker several times.

The Limbaugh Award

Man, what a difference a week makes; from the 'decider' to thoroughly insignificant!

I like it better the way it was last week when we only had nine committee members on hand. With nearly 50% of the selection committee being ultra-conservative -- the 'fewer' of them, would generally mean a better chance of getting my way -- like last week.

But, this week I and the other two Blue Dogs got slammed. I stumped hard for Limbaugh's asinine lie about the Exxon Valdez or Hannity's lying denial about using 'race' against Barack Obama, but all 12 ultra-conservatives (sic), both neo-Nazi Constitution Party members, our lone John Bircher, and two out of the three Americans for Tax Reform members banned together and selected, on a 17-8 vote, Mr. John 'What the fuck were you thinking?' Edwards, as this week's, the 75th, Limbaugh Award winner for liars.
What a moron.

I really tried to get around it Senator, but just couldn't do it. You're definitely deserving though, dumbass! Congratulations -- You're #75!
