Sunday Scroll #61 - "It's Rev. Wright" Edition

'Triumph and Tragedy'
Big Brown wins Kentucky Derby
Eight Belles dies at finish
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Running away from 19 rivals, Big Brown dominated Saturday’s 134th running of the Kentucky Derby, winning by four and three-quarters lengths in a race that was marred by the death of Eight Belles, who finished second.

Oops, my bad ...
When a U.S. patrol in the Shiite militia stronghold was fired on by a dozen fighters, American forces fired 200-pound guided rockets that devastated at least three buildings in the district. The U.S. military said 28 militiamen were killed. Local hospital officials said dozens of civilians were killed or wounded.
[I would take it that that's not one of the 28.]

He's delirious
“When the history is written, it will be said this is a safer country and more hopeful world because George Bush was president.”
[Worst in history!]

What a country!
Hey amigo, can you spare a ride?
EL PASO, Texas - Josefa Gonzalez Loya has sneaked across the Mexican border at least 128 times in the past eight years. And each time, the Border Patrol has been nice enough to give her a lift home. Gonzalez and a group of other women and children — all Indians from the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca — have no interest in staying in the United States. All they want to do is panhandle outside El Paso businesses, using the children as lures. At the end of a productive day, they wait for the Border Patrol to come pick them up and drive them back to the border.

Obama Crushes Hillary in Guam!
Obama clinches island victory by 7 votes
Results of the all-night count completed Sunday morning Guam time show delegates pledged to Obama with 2,264 votes to 2,257 for Clinton's slate.
In Black and White
Obama: Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School
Clinton: Valedictorian at Wellesley
McCain: # 894 out of 899 at the Naval Academy

The 'liberal media'
The Washington Post and NY Times published more than 12 times as many articles mentioning Obama and Wright as they did mentioning McCain and Hagee
[*Update-I guess Frank Rich decided to grow a pair.]

Which way is it going?
If the USA seems too crowded and its roads too congested now, imagine future generations: The nation's population could more than triple to 1 billion as early as 2100.
[Note to moron: The U.S. population is growing rapidly. Your 'theory' is as dumb as you are.]

More of the same from John McSame
At a lunch hosted today by the Christian Science Monitor, former uber-lobbyist Charlie Black, who is a senior adviser to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), said that McCain’s staff talks to the President Bush’s staff “everyday.” Black also said that before McCain offered harsh words last week about Bush’s response to Hurricane Katrina, the campaign gave the White House a “head’s up.”

What if you didn't have the cash?
LAKE JACKSON, Texas -- When Lisa Kelly learned she had leukemia in late 2006, her doctor advised her to seek urgent care at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. But the nonprofit hospital refused to accept Mrs. Kelly's limited insurance. It asked for $105,000 in cash before it would admit her. Sitting in the hospital's business office, Mrs. Kelly says she told M.D. Anderson's representatives that she had some money to pay for treatment, but couldn't get all the cash they asked for that day. "Are they going to send me home?" she recalls thinking. "Am I going to die?"

Don't light up that joint
A man who was denied a liver transplant largely because he used marijuana with medical approval to ease the symptoms of hepatitis C has died. Timothy Garon, 56, died Thursday at Bailey-Boushay House, an intensive care nursing center, said his lawyer, Douglas Hiatt, and Alisha Mark, a spokeswoman for Virginia Mason Medical Center, which operates Bailey-Boushay. His death came a week after a doctor told him a University of Washington Medical Center committee had again denied him a spot on the liver transplant list. The team had previously told him it would not consider placing him on the list until he completed a 60-day drug-treatment class.

The one that didn't get away

The Limbaugh Award

This was a fairly non-eventful week for liars but do not fret; the esteemed selection committee can always come up with at least one worthy recipient for this 'prestigious, but infamous' award -- given here at 'done that' almost weekly.

Bill O'Reilly, the 'Uncultured Wussy', (as opposed to, 'culture warrior') and no stranger to the Limbaugh Award, having last won in week #35, captured the award this week with his ridiculously ignorant statement that, "We didn't invade Iraq".

Not much debate there. That's simply another lying sheepherder from Fox News.

Congratulations Wussy, you're #61.
