Sunday Scroll #9

Abbreviated Spring Fever Edition

You knew it had to happen
NEO-NAZI who kept black heritage secret reminiscent of Dave Chappelle skit.*

For a man who saw the world in black and white, William Hoff Jr.'s own life was shrouded in gray.

To his younger brother, Sheldon, he was Billy - an intelligent, caring man who once worked teaching black children to read. Billy doted on Sheldon's bi-racial children and wrote letters of encouragement to them. But when William Hoff got together with his friends to play dress-up, he was Wild Bill - a legendary colonel in the National Socialist Movement. Wild Bill was the consummate racist, a Nazi's Nazi. *(that line is from Raw Story)

Jihadist video shows boy beheading man

This photo taken from a video, Friday, April 20, 2007, shows a boy speaking shortly before hacking off a captive's head in Pakistan. A video circulating in Pakistan records the grisly death of Ghulam Nabi, a Pakistani militant accused of betraying a top Taliban official who was killed in a December airstrike in Afghanistan. An Associated Press reporter confirmed Nabi's identity by visiting his family in Kili Faqiran, their remote village in southwestern Pakistan. The video, obtained by AP Television News in the border city of Peshawar on Tuesday, appears authentic and is unprecedented in jihadist propaganda because of the youth of the executioner. Raw Story

When do the troops' funds run out?
The Pentagon says it has enough money to pay for the Iraq war through June. The House was expected to name its negotiators on the war-funding bill with the intent of producing a House-Senate compromise next week.

"If Congress fails to pass a bill that I can sign by mid-April, the Army will be forced to consider cutting back on equipment, equipment repair and quality of life initiatives for our Guard and Reserve forces," Bush said.
I'll take the Pentagon's word over Bush's. Besides, since when does Bush need money to spend money?

U.S. sets terrorist free
Anti-Castro militant Luis Posada Carriles, an aging ex-CIA operative suspected in a decades-old Cuban airliner bombing, was released from U.S. custody Thursday and flew to Miami as he awaits trial on immigration fraud charges. Posada is wanted in his native Cuba and in Venezuela, where he is accused of plotting the 1976 bombing of a Cuban jetliner that killed 73 people.
(those laws are for other types of terrorists)

I'll go with the pill form
In the heart of the Amazon rain forest, the strange rituals of a small tribe of indigenous people provide clues to possible future discoveries of medical science. ...Over countless generations, the Sataré Maué have learned that the dangerous bite of the tocandira ant also delivers something very precious and crucial: a natural defense against mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and yellow fever.

But I did not shoot the deputy
Tetsuya Shiroo
When Nagasaki's mayor was fatally shot in southern Japan, it wasn't much of a surprise that a gangster was arrested for the attack. In a country where regular citizens face strict gun laws, the mob does most of the shooting.

Iccho Ito, 61, was shot twice in the back Tuesday evening and died early Wednesday. Tetsuya Shiroo, a senior member of Japan's largest crime syndicate, the Yamaguchi-gumi, was captured at the scene and admitted to the attack, police said.

You're welcome, Mr. Secretary
[Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said Tuesday] Demands in the U.S. Congress for a timeline to withdraw American troops from Iraq are constructive because they exert pressure on Iraq’s leaders to forge compromises. “The debate in Congress … has been helpful in demonstrating to the Iraqis that American patience is limited,” Gates told Pentagon reporters traveling with him in Jordan. “The strong feelings expressed in the Congress about the timetable probably has had a positive impact … in terms of communicating to the Iraqis that this is not an open-ended commitment.”
(Cha-ching!)

Oh shit, get your wallet out
The 'Reagan Candidate'? What does that mean?

Is Mitt going to sell TOW and HAWK missiles to Hezbollah and negogiate with terrorists?

Or will he just continue the bankrupting of the United States?

Or both?

Medal winners don't lie, do they?
"The soon to be published memoir of former Director of Central Intelligence George Tenet is likely to be received poorly by Vice President Dick Cheney and other top Bush administration officials, according to a report in today's Washington Post. "Tenet is not going to get too many Christmas cards from Vice President Cheney's office after they read 'At the Center of the Storm..."" Kamen writes.

Nice to see China doing its part
China's massive Yangtze river, a lifeline for tens of millions of people, is seriously polluted and the damage is almost irreversible, a state-run newspaper said Monday. More than 370 miles of the river are in critical condition and almost 30 percent of its major tributaries are seriously polluted, the China Daily said, citing a report by the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The Limbaugh/HD Award
This week's winner of the Limbaugh/HD Award is George Bush's brain, Karl 'Turd Blossom' Rove

The award committee had another 'tough' week. It wasn't due to too many choices, or a week like last week's that followed Easter and most of the liars were on vacation - No, this week's problem was the weather is starting to finally break here in the great Midwest, and the committee wants to actually go back to having a life!

I guess that's the price you pay when you have so many damn Republicans on the committee.

But they pulled out a good winner for the award this week - It didn't take too long in deciding after they heard what Ol' Turd-Blossom told 'about 400 people at a Tuscarawas County [Ohio] Lincoln Day dinner' last Wednesday night.

Small crowd...Big lies. But small crowds are just about all Karl has left these days and you know that son-of-a-bitch isn't going to stop lying.

Karl told the flock that night, "I wish the [Iraq] war were over - I wish the war never existed..."

Rove wished the war in Iraq, "never existed"? Now, that's total bullshit!

"In a question-and-answer period after his speech, Rove was asked whose idea it was to start a pre-emptive war."

"I think it was Osama bin Laden's,'' Rove replied.

Now, that's a bald-faced lie, too!

But, I don't have time this week to re-hash all of those lies again, and even if I did, I couldn't tell it better than Think Progress could.

Karl Rove is well established liar and a very good choice for this week's, Limbaugh/HD Award.

Congratulations, Turd Blossom - You're #9.
