Oops...my bad...
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Two Iraqi women and two children were believed to have been killed in a U.S. air strike aimed at al Qaeda militants north of Baghdad on Thursday, the U.S. military said. Soldiers were searching buildings near Taji, 20 km (12 miles) north of Baghdad, for a car bomb network with links to al Qaeda when they came under small arms fire, a military statement said. The soldiers called in an air strike and four insurgents were killed. "Additionally, coalition forces believe that two women and two children were also killed during the strike. "The bodies were left on the site." " the statement said.

Wackos align to arm fetuses!
In a strategic alliance that combines two core elements of the GOP base, the National Rifle Association and Pro-Life Movement have joined forces to support the arming of all fetuses with handguns. Both groups are trying to exploit the recent tragedy at Virginia Tech, as well as the Supreme Court’s ruling on partial-birth abortion, to mount the most aggressive defense yet of the unborn. George & Condi "absolutely love him"

Deputy Secretary of State Randall Tobias submitted his resignation Friday after confirming to ABC News that he had been a customer of a Washington escort service, multiple media outlets reported Friday. Tobias, 65, said "that he must step down" from his post "effective immediately..." ABC's 'Blotter' reported that Tobias told the network Thursday "he had several times called the "Pamela Martin and Associates" escort service "to have gals come over to the condo to give me a massage." Tobias, who is married, said there had been "no sex," and that recently he had been using another service "with Central Americans" to provide massages."

Who said this?
"Mr. President, can anyone seriously argue that another six months of United States forces in harm’s way means the difference between peace and prosperity and war there? Is that very dim prospect worth one more American life? No, it is not.” .. .." Now is the time for us to get out, as rapidly, and as promptly, and as safely as possible.”

But these are Good ol' Boys
Raids that resulted in the arrests of six alleged militia members and the seizure of hundreds of hand grenades and bullets were "much ado about nothing," a defense lawyer said Friday. A cache of ammunition that was confiscated — 2,500 rounds — wasn't that large, and the scores of homemade hand grenades agents seized could be made with powder from fireworks and components readily available in military-surplus stores, attorney Scott Boudreaux said.

Ready to eat cloned beef? The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is on the verge of approving food from cloned animals to be sold in grocery stores. These products would not have to carry an identifying label. According to its Draft Animal Cloning Risk Assessment report, the FDA says meat and other products from cloned animals are as safe to eat as other food. Consumer groups are making an uproar.

Dick would've learned his lesson
A top Taliban commander has claimed that al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was behind the February attack outside a U.S. base in Afghanistan during U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's visit, according to an interview aired Wednesday on Al-Jazeera. Mullah Dadullah, the Taliban's top military commander, told Al-Jazeera that bin Laden planned and supervised the attack that killed 23 people outside the big U.S. base at Bagram during Cheney's visit.
Wow...killed on his photo-op by the real terrorists ?...You know, the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11 and the same ones he diverted our attention away from by going into Iraq. The irony...

They're too 'baked'...to count?
White House excludes bomb deaths in casualty counts.
“Car bombs and other explosive devices have killed thousands of Iraqis in the past three years, but the administration doesn’t include them in the casualty counts it has been citing as evidence that the surge of additional U.S. forces is beginning to defuse tensions between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.” [TP]

Today a long time ago
On 29 April, 1945, Hans Krebs, Wilhelm Burgdorf, Joseph Goebbels, and Martin Bormann witnessed and signed the last will and testament of Adolf Hitler. Hitler dictated the document to his personal private secretary, Traudl Junge. Hitler was also that day informed of the violent death of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini on the 28th, which is presumed to have increased his determination to avoid capture. On 30 April 1945, after intense street-to-street combat, when Soviet troops were spotted within a block or two of the Reich Chancellory in the city centre, Hitler committed suicide in the Führerbunker, shooting himself while simultaneously biting into a cyanide capsule.

Those who can speak, speak for us
Several retired generals endorsed Congress’ Iraq withdrawal legislation yesterday. Maj. Gen. John Batiste called it “important legislation [that] sets a new direction in Iraq,” while Lt. Gen. William Odom said it will “re-orient US strategy to achieve regional stability, and win help from many other countries - the only way peace will eventually be achieved.”

Chinese tourism authorities are seeking investment to build a novel concept attraction -- the world's first "women's town," where men get punished for disobedience, an official said Thursday. The 2.3-square-km Longshuihu village in the Shuangqiao district of Chongqing municipality, also known as "women's town," was based on the local traditional concept of "women rule and men obey," a tourism official told Reuters.

U.S. Rep. Tom Weeney
WASHINGTON - The FBI has asked U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney for information about his dealings with Jack Abramoff as part of its ongoing investigation into the lobbyist convicted of defrauding clients. Federal agents also have asked the St. Petersburg Times for an e-mail sent to the newspaper by Feeney's office describing a golfing trip the congressman took with Abramoff to Scotland in 2003. Feeney did not return calls for comment Monday. But his Washington office released a statement to the Times late Monday. "Rep. Feeney considers this an embarrassing episode in his 17-year career as an elected official and an expensive lesson for him as a public servant," the statement said.

What's another $5,000,000,000?
Iraq and the United States are to spend 14 billion dollars and recruit 40,000 new soldiers into the Iraqi armed forces in the next 18 months, a US military commander said Sunday. US army Lieutenant General Martin Dempsey, who is in charge of training Iraqi security forces, said that America will spend five billion dollars and the remaining nine billion would come from Iraqi coffers. After spending 25 years in an Illinois prison for rape, Jerry Miller was found innocent Monday after DNA evidence showed he was not responsible for the 1981 attack. After a judge vacated his conviction, Miller smiled, and a courtroom of his family and friends cheered.

Because Jessica Lynch has class
[Jessica Lynch's] "rescue" was staged for the cameras. There were no Iraqi forces guarding the hospital, and a local doctor was quoted as saying that the troops seemed to be using blank rounds to "make a show" of the operation. "I am still confused as to why they chose to lie and tried to make me a legend," Lynch said at the hearing last Tuesday. "The bottom line is, the American people are capable of determining their own ideals for heroes, and they don't need to be told elaborate lies. I'm not about to take credit for something I didn't do."
For those who criticize Jessica Lynch for coming forward and telling the truth it says more about you than her. She refused to take credit for something that wasn't due her. She has class...and you obviously don't.

Since we're on the subject of classless...that segues nicely into this week's Limbaugh/HD Award

The Limbaugh/HD Award
This week's winner of the Limbaugh/HD Award is the Republican frontrunning nominee for President in 2008, Rudy Giuliani.

Rudy Giuliani proclaimed this week, "America will be safer with a Republican president."

No one is sure what Rudy is basing that lie on but one thing is for sure, he is not basing it on the facts. The historical record clearly proves that to be an audacious lie.

Republicans, especially the liars like Limbaugh, HD and Rudy can talk all the bullshit they want, but they can't make up their own facts.

Well, of course they can...and they do....and that's exactly why they have their reputations of being shameless liars.

Congratulations Rudy - You're #10!
