US trade deficit sets record again in ’06

WASHINGTON: The US trade deficit hit a fifth straight annual record in 2006, driven by a record oil import bill and a flood of goods from China, a government report showed on Tuesday.

The Commerce Department said the trade gap expanded by 6.5% last year to an all-time high of $763.6 billion, as a record imports swamped record exports. Let's see, George W. Bush has given us 5 years of record budget deficits, 5 years of trade deficits, and borrowed more money than the previous 42 presidents combined, wasted a trillion dollars in war that wasn't necessary, and 5 years of stagnant wages and on and on. ...Yeah, Republicans sure know how to lead our nation's economy, don't they?
