More Bush cronyism

The U.S. government wasted tens of millions of dollars in Iraq reconstruction aid, including scores of unaccounted-for weapons and a never-used camp for housing police trainers with an Olympic-size swimming pool, investigators say.

The quarterly audit by Stuart Bowen Jr., the special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction, is the latest to paint a grim picture of waste, fraud and frustration in an Iraq war and reconstruction effort that has cost taxpayers more than $500 billion* and left the region near civil war.
Bush and congressional Republicans have no problem with their crony, political campaign-backing, corporate friends ripping off taxpayers to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars but they just can't come up with a paltry $7 million for brain-injured veterans. Shameless bastards.

*The '$500 billion' is a correction to the story done by me. Just how long are people going to use the incorrect amount of '$300 billion'? The news media, at the direct assistance to the Bush administration, have been using that same figure for close to two years now. We are spending $10 billion a month in Iraq, so you do the goddamn math. I have.
