HPV Vaccination

Make it mandatory

On the first day I ever 'blogged' I wrote a piece on the human papillomavirus (HPV) and how it was the cause of 70% of all cervical cancer cases in the United States and how the rightwing religious nuts were trying to stop a new vaccine for it.

I have to hand it to Texas Republican governor, Rick Perry, for standing up to the idiots in his state who think you can stop a deadly cancer by hoping your children don't have sex or that if they do, they won't be exposed to this virus.

This vaccine needs to be mandatory in all 50 states to protect children from ignorant parents. You don't get to choose your parents. There are way too many dumb people with kids and their kids need to be protected from them.

Make it mandatory.

House panel votes for bill to override Perry's HPV order

AUSTIN - A legislative panel today approved a bill to override Governor Rick Perry's order requiring schoolgirls of a certain age to get an anti-cancer vaccine.

The Texas House public health committee voted 6-to-3 in favor of a bill that would bar state officials from requiring the vaccine for school attendance.

Ninety-one state representatives, or nearly two-thirds of the House, are co-sponsoring the bill.
