That good old 'Budget and Economic Outlook' report
"The federal budget deficit has fallen sharply during the past few years, and it is on a path to decline further this year and next year. CBO estimates that under current law, the deficit will total $514 billion in fiscal year 2014, compared with $1.4 trillion in 2009."
The CBO does great work but their projections are subject to whether we have another one of those phony-conservative, teabagging wingnuts in office or not.

If you care to recall, back in 2001, in that very same report the CBO projected "$5.6 TRILLION in SURPLUSES" over the next 10 years, 2002-2011. And what happened? We elected a Republican President along with an all Republican Congress and they turned those projected $5.6 TRILLION SURPLUSES into a $16 TRILLION DEBT.

And they wonder why we laugh when they call themselves, 'conservative', small-government teabaggers.

"In January 2001, CBO's baseline projections showed a cumulative surplus of $5.6 trillion for the 2002–2011 period."
