Private Sector jobs added, +257,000
Government jobs lost,         -   14,000
Net jobs gained 1/2012,       243,000

It's a positive and continual trend. That is 23 consecutive months of private sector job growth but we need more new jobs than that every month for the next 12-15 24 months just to dig out from the George W. Bush Great Recession.  As Obama told the Republicans who have fought against our economy every step of the way for the last three years,  "Don't muck it up"!
"...Private employers added 257,000 jobs while budget-strapped governments cut 14,000. Job gains have averaged 201,000 a month the past three months, up from 133,000 the prior three months. The Labor Department also revised up estimated job gains for November and December by a total of 60,000.
