Another Saturday Evening Post

"And the hill was very slick and as I struggled to walk, I slipped and I fell on the ice and I started to cry and I said "I can't do this." I said, "I'll never be able to climb that hill." And he lifted me in his strong, gentle arms and said something I'll never forget. He said "I know you'll do it, there is nothing you can't do. We're going to climb that hill together, even if it takes us all day."

Russ Feingold says what has to be said
"We went into Afghanistan with a clear mission: to destroy those who helped to perpetrate the horrific 9/11 attacks. I voted to authorize sending our forces there because it was vital to our national security, and I strongly criticized the previous administration for shortchanging that mission in favor of a misguided war in Iraq. President Barack Obama is rightly focusing on this critical part of the world. But I cannot support an open-ended commitment to an escalating war in Afghanistan..." - WSJ Op-ed

Russ Feingold is a man President Obama needs to listen to. After all, they both got it right from the very start.

That's a huge flaw in our Constitution
GOP senator signals fading hopes on health care
WASHINGTON — A leading GOP negotiator (?) on health care struck a further blow to fading chances of a bipartisan compromise by saying Democratic proposals would restrict medical choices and make the country's "finances sicker without saving you money."
The criticism from Sen. Michael Enzi, R-Wyoming (?), echoed that of many opponents of the Democratic plans under consideration in Congress.

Who in the hell has ever heard of Senator Enzi? Have you ever thought about the weird way the United States Senate is structured? Do you really think the Founders envisioned a state like Wyoming with its 533,000 residents having equal representation in the Senate to a state like California with its 37 million residents? I don't think they ever imagined such a ridiculous disparity and if they did, and they still wrote Article One the way it is, then they've been given way too much credit. To hell with Senator Enzi from Wyoming. There are neighborhoods in other parts of the country that are bigger and more important than that entire state. Those guys couldn't have been that stupid. But good luck getting 38 states to change it.

I thought the opposite was happening?
The International Atomic Energy Agency said on Friday in a study obtained by AFP that Iran has slowed production of enriched uranium and agreed to tighter monitoring of its enrichment plant. Tehran has also granted UN inspectors access to a research reactor long out of bounds, the restricted report revealed.

Huh, something seems to be working. But I know what's next; the ignorant and the misinformed are way too predictable. The John Boltons and the William Kristols will whine, 'the IAEA is always wrong'. Yeah well, we've heard that before.

The Prince of Darkness
The founder of Blackwater USA deliberately caused the deaths of innocent civilians in a series of shootings in Iraq, attorneys for Iraqis suing the security contractor told a federal judge Friday. The attorneys singled out Erik Prince, a former Navy SEAL who is the company's owner, for blame in the deaths of more than 20 Iraqis between 2005 and 2007.

And that evil little prick didn't just kill Iraqis.

We'll have to kick their asses again
An organization calling itself the “Texas Nationalist Movement” plans to march on the Texas capitol today to demand “Sovereignty or Secession”...

I know now what Jefferson meant about refreshing the 'tree of liberty'. It's in regard to these secessionist traitors who pop up occasionally throughout history. If these Texans refuse to honor our constitutionally elected government - one elected by a huge landside to boot - then we need to go down and kick their asses again. If they don't like it they can leave. Get out - that land is our land. Mexico is just to your south. (h/t TP)

I just liked the picture ...

Obama needs to fire that asshole!
This week, Stars and Stripes revealed that the Pentagon had hired a controversial contractor to screen journalists seeking to embed with U.S. forces. The Rendon Group determines whether reporters’ coverage “was ‘positive,’ ‘negative’ or ‘neutral’ compared to mission objectives.” The Pentagon’s decision was especially shocking in light of Rendon’s sordid past:

I can't believe these treasonous little neocon bastards are still sliming their way around the Pentagon. Obama needs to clean house.

And he's their Republican candidate ...

Idaho Republican gubernatorial hopeful, Rex Rammell, said he'd buy a license to hunt Obama.

Idaho, number one per capita in rightwing Neo-Nazi skinheads and whose other significant contributions to the nation are potatoes and Larry Craig, clearly displays why with a little insight into the mind of their leading gubernatorial candidate.

The ultimate middle-man
Another overpaid CEO at a large health insurer is Stephen Hemsley of UnitedHealth Group Inc., whose $3.2 million a year salary is supplemented by $744 million in stock options. UnitedHealth Group, which has spent $12.6 million to lobby against health care reform since 2007, certainly likes to take care of its CEOs in grand style.

Three quarters of a billion dollars? That's a lot of health care. We don't need the middle-men.

I'm sure you do ...
