"... .. The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it..."Boy, I'll tell ya, Barack is cut badly. He was way ahead on all cards and then .... Bam! What a head butt!
It's sort of like a fly caught in flypaper ... he just keeps stepping in it.
It's funny though, 'typical white person'? It's funny because, it's true. Your typical white person feels exactly like that. The majority of us would never admit it, but, it is true.
But it ain't helping. Joe Six-Pack doesn't want to hear that bullshit; especially since it's true.
And Preacher Wright? Man, we white people hate hearing that crazy shit. Of course if we were 'black', we'd probably get it. If I was black, I’d be saying it.
Joe Six-Pack doesn't like it and there are a whole lot more Joe's than bro's so it ain't helping.
Barack sat there for twenty years listening to some of that stuff. What … do you think he's some secret Black Panther who secretly hates white people? Do you think he's been 'undercover' all these years? He sure has hidden it well from every person I’ve ever heard comment about him.
It’s strange what some politicians put themselves through to be ‘visible’, or to have ‘access’ to 8,000 other ‘brethren’. Barack should have told Wright to shut the hell up at some point. Or maybe to just talk instead of screaming.
And isn't it strange that Obama was being accused of being a Muslim last month and now he's hemorrhaging from acts coming out of his Christian church? Well ... at least Jesus is involved. Joe hates Mo.
It's funny; I've always had my 'problems' with race. I'm not outwardly prejudice. I think the black people who know me think I’m a fair and stand-up guy. But you know, when I hear the word ‘welfare’ I envision an unmarried black woman with four kids by three different dudes. ... You do know there are many times more whites than blacks on welfare, right? I do too … I just can’t get that picture out of my head sometimes …
And I'm one of those 'typical white people' who feels a little more ‘anxious’ when I see four young black dudes standing on a corner late at night than I am when there are four nice young white dudes.
But I also thought that just maybe, if we elected a black guy President we might be able as a country to prove we’re getting better than that. And maybe convince 'them', that they can do better than that, too.
Of course – don’t get me wrong. I'm not all that syrupy. If that was case I would have backed Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. It never entered my mind.
That's not the most important reason why I'm going to vote for Barack Obama -- I'm voting for Barack because he'd be a much better president than either John McCain or Hillary Clinton. In fact, he's proven himself to be head and shoulders above all the candidates that were in the race from either party right from jump street.
But all this talk about race ain’t getting’ it for Barack.
He has to be ‘black’ but not too black, if you know what I mean. Joe isn’t quite ready to be that understanding.
I'm sticking with Barack. At this point it would take a dead girl or a live boy to vote for John McCain. McCain is just plain dumb. It's like looking at an ugly George Bush. I'm tired of listening to a stupid president.
I'm going with Barack. I know he's no secret terrorist or Black Panther.
I always liked those berets, though. But I sure know Joe doesn't.
