Sunday Scroll #37 - Veterans Day Edition

Six years after the United States led an invasion of Afghanistan to remove the Taliban from power and destroy Al Qaeda’s safe haven, Afghanistan faces a growing insurgency that directly threatens its stability and the national security interests of the United States and its allies.
[George Bush - A miserable failure and worst president ever!]

Why he really endorsed Rudy
Rev. Robertson said that he was “confident” that within weeks of his inauguration, Mr. Giuliani would usher in the “end days” that are a staple of Bible prophecy. In praising Mr. Giuliani, Mr. Robertson had critical words for the current resident of the White House, George W. Bush: “Bush got us on the road to Armageddon, but it’s taking too darn long -- Rudy Giuliani will put us in the express lane.”

'Bush's Favorite Lie'
“We gave him [Saddam Hussein] a chance to allow the inspectors in, and he wouldn’t let them in. And, therefore, after a reasonable request, we decided to remove him from power. [Link]
[That, of course, is a blatant lie. Hussein had allowed the UN weapons inspectors into Iraq and it was Bush who told them to leave.]

"We have them, but you can't"
Egyptian and Saudi Arabian intentions to begin or revive their nuclear programs in the face of Iran's continued race toward nuclear power present an "apocalyptic scenario" for Israel as well as for the rest of the world, Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.
[Lieberman? Must be that little punk, Joe's, cousin - Looks like Israel better start getting rid of their nukes.]

Time for a real 'free' market
The Federal Communications Commission is preparing to impose significant new regulations to open the cable television market to independent programmers and rival video services after determining that cable companies have become too dominant in the industry, senior commission officials said.

Today a long time ago
At 11 a.m. on November 11, 1918 — the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month — a ceasefire came into effect and World War I ended.

How did that get there?
American military chiefs have been left dumbstruck by an undetected Chinese submarine popping up at the heart of a recent Pacific exercise and close to the vast U.S.S. Kitty Hawk - a 1,000ft supercarrier with 4,500 personnel on board. By the time it surfaced the 160ft Song Class diesel-electric attack submarine is understood to have sailed within viable range for launching torpedoes or missiles at the carrier. According to senior Nato officials the incident caused consternation in the U.S. Navy. The Americans had no idea China's fast-growing submarine fleet had reached such a level of sophistication, or that it posed such a threat.

Shock and Awe
WASHINGTON - A group of noted physicians predicted yesterday that healthcare for Iraq veterans could top $650 billion, another warning of a looming social crisis as thousands of veterans struggle with mental and physical disabilities and other disruptions to family life. The study by Physicians for Social Responsibility, titled "Shock and Awe Hits Home," marked the first attempt to isolate the financial costs of "the wide-ranging traumatic mental and social effects of the Iraq war."
[Add that to the $650 billion the lying assholes have already wasted in Iraq!]

For good behavior
Arthur H. Bremer, who simply reached through a crowd to shoot George Wallace, walked quietly out of prison Friday and into a society far safer for presidential candidates than it was when he paralyzed the Alabama governor. Bremer, 21 at the time, was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to 53 years. He had been held at the medium-security prison near Hagerstown, about 70 miles from Baltimore, since 1979.

'Conservative' Speak
"We need a U.S. Senator who will stand up for Louisiana values, not Massachusetts's values. I am the only Senate Candidate to coauthor the Federal Marriage Amendment; the only one fighting for its passage... stated David Vitter - Senator, R-Louisiana.

The Limbaugh Award

There was plenty of stiff competition for this week's Limbaugh Award, but the eventual winner, Rudy Giuliani, very deservedly, pulled it out in the end.

Tom Delay gave it a good shot with his stupid statement in a speech in the UK that 'no American is denied health care in America'. The audience there practically laughed his ignorant ass off the stage when he said that.

Then there was Matt Drudge and his handling of the lie about Hillary Clinton's entourage not tipping the waitress in Iowa. [How many waitresses would complain about a $100 tip on a $157 bill?]

Sean Hannity gave it a good run by lying about Hillary Clinton knowing about the 'planted question' at her campaign event even after he was told she knew nothing about it.

Oxycontin Pig-Boy Limbaugh almost won again with his ridiculous lie about the Swift-Boat Liars never being "disproven [sic] with anything they claimed in any of their ads, statements, written commentaries, or anything of the sort." Of course, anyone with a shred of integrity knows that is a Pig-Boy lie since every single one of those liars were 'disproven'.

But, the 'prestigious, but infamous' award for liars just had to go to Giuliani this week when he said in Iowa on Thursday, “Our military is too small to deal with the Islamic terrorism threats, but it really is too small to deter would-be aggressors to even think of challenging us. And that’s due to Bill Clinton.”

Now ladies and gentlemen, that's an egregious lie! Everyone in the world saw full well the military Bill Clinton left this country when they defeated the Taliban in Afghanistan -- the same country that defeated the Soviets -- in a matter of weeks! That was Bill Clinton's military.

Our military isn't 'too small'. The United States spends more on our military than all the other countries in the world combined - Just as it did during the Clinton years.

All our military needs is competent leadership instead of a lying deserter of a Commander-in-Chief who needlessly takes a few hundred thousand of them into a five year quagmire on trumped up and faulty intelligence. Not a Commander-in-Chief who lies and then tries to eliminate their hazardous duty pay, refuses them proper body armor and then spits on them when they come back home and need medical care.

No Rudy --You lying fucking piece of shit, you won't get away with revising history and lying about the facts.

Congratulations you ugly bastard -- You're #37.
