Governor Ann Richards - September 1, 1933 – September 13, 2006

Former President Clinton tearfully escorted a flag-draped casket Saturday carrying former Gov. Ann Richards into the state Capitol, where she will spend the next two days lying in state before her funeral and burial.

Clinton delivered poignant and at times funny recollections of the woman he called "spontaneous, unedited, earthy, hilarious."
A little over a year ago the company I work for held a leadership conference and the invited keynote speaker was none other than the affable Ann Richards. She gave a rousing and hilarious talk and afterward I was able to personally meet her and I was able to tell her what a big fan I was of hers. I then, still grasping her hand looked her dead in the eye and said, "if you had only beaten that fool George Bush in your last election just imagine how much better the world would be". She simply looked back at me and said "I know".

I have probably never spoken truer words in my life. And, I will always be grateful for having the opportunity to have met Governor Richards.

Good-bye Ms. Richards. You were one hell of a woman...
