A Senator Who Can Count

majority - the number larger than half the total.

The Senate has the votes to pass a healthcare reform bill including a public option, Sen. Tom Harkin said Tuesday.

"I have polled senators, and the vast majority of Democrats — maybe approaching 50 — support a public option. ...I believe we'll have the 60 votes... But once we cross that hurdle, we only need 51 votes for the public option. And I believe there are, comfortably, 51 votes for a public option."

Personally, I'm hoping this phony healthcare reform doesn't pass. It's too watered-down and nothing but a boondoggle for insurance companies so why bother?

But at least Senator Harkin can count and knows that its passage only requires 51 votes and not 60.

After all, there's a shitload of precedence on that.

Part revisionism, but mostly just simple ignorance from the Powerline sheep;
"An administration not wholly blinded by ideology might be moved to consider the measures that worked so effectively to bring down unemployment after 1982."
You know, it would be so much simpler to be a wingnut blogger. You can make up your own facts and write anything because their simple-minded audiences aren't smart enough to know any different.

But I'll say one thing about the pathetic wingnuts that visit here. They might be pathological liars who continue lying but they sure can't complain about not knowing they're lying after they do.
Unemployment was 7.4% when Jimmy Carter left office. One year after Reagan took office, unemployment had increased 1.2%, to 8.6%. One year and five months after Reagan took office, in June 1982, it was, 9.6% - higher than it is now. But Reagan wasn't done; unemployment would 'soar' to 10.1% in September 1982, 10.4% in October, 10.8% in both November and December 1982, and didn't go below 10%, until July 1983.

Wait a minute Kitty...

At the How To Take Back America Conference last weekend, conservative speaker Kitty Werthmann led a workshop called “How to recognize living under Nazis & Communists.”

...The room was packed over capacity to hear Werthmann, who grew up as a Christian in Austria and serves as Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum South Dakota President. During her session, Werthmann went through a litany of examples of how President Obama is like Adolf Hitler.
Hold on there a second, Kitty. Between you, Barack and Adolf, two of you were rightwing Austrian Christian fascist nutjobs and Barack Obama isn't one of them. So who is truly like whom?

Wingnuts are such oxymorons.

"Today Christians stand at the head of our country. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit. We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theatre, and in the press-- in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of liberal excess during the past years."Adolf Hitler

Sounds like Kitty to me.
Who the hell cares?
'Top' Republicans Urge Obama to Add Troops in Afghanistan
"Two top Republican senators urged President Barack Obama to send as many as 40,000 additional troops to Afghanistan to prevent the Taliban and al-Qaeda from gaining the upper hand there."

The two 'top' Republican senators are John McCain and Lindsey Graham. Neither of those two dimwits have any credibility whatsoever when it comes to Afghanistan.

Besides George W. Bush, John McCain has
the most miserable record on Afghanistan than any other elected official in the entire country. And Lindsey Graham? Who cares, he always just repeats whatever McCain says.

McCain said yesterday he knew Barack Obama would "make the right decision, which is to commit the necessary troops.” I wish McCain would have said that three years ago when we really needed him instead of saying,
"But the focus here is more on training the Afghan National Army and the police, as opposed to the increased U.S. troop presence."
John McCain failed his nation by focusing on the wrong enemy. As military scholars and everyday realists have now concluded; our senseless and historically foolish invasion of Iraq is the reason we have all the problems we have in Afghanistan.

If you stupidly supported the invasion and occupation of Iraq, then you got it terribly wrong on the real war on terror in Afghanistan and your advice and/or criticism is way too fucking late - and obviously, extremely unreliable.

We are scheduled to have 68,000 American troops in Afghanistan by year end. We don't need another 40,000. It should only take about 5,000 to track down and destroy Osama bin Laden and a 1,000 or so al-Qaeda.

Barack Obama should ignore the fools and just get the job done. And McCain and Graham and all the sheep need to shut the hell up.

Say it is so, Joe
WASHINGTON — President Obama is exploring alternatives to a major troop increase in Afghanistan, including a plan advocated by Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. to scale back American forces and focus more on rooting out Al Qaeda there and in Pakistan, officials said Tuesday.

Joe Biden knows the right path to take in Afghanistan. We have too many troops there, not too few. The 22,000 Obama has sent there since February are more than enough to kill al-Qaeda. That should be our only mission there. Do it and get the hell home. Go Joe!
Your Weekend Dose of Reality

Wingnuts Wince & Whine ...
as Real Diplomacy Plays Out
Obama 'shines'
U.S. President Barack Obama cut a bold figure on the world stage yesterday, delivering a forward-looking, energetic message to the United Nations General Assembly. George Bush has left the building. America is engaged again, and claims no monopoly on wisdom. The U.S. is canvassing for partners to tackle issues that bedevil the world.

Nothing is more satisfying than seeing the America-hating Fox News, hate-radio and wingnut bloggers shit their pants and cry like babies as they witness how President Barack Hussein Obama deals diplomatically with other nations. When wingnuts' prayers and hope for failure go unanswered, America wins.

Then And Now(Full disclosure-the 'now' photo is from April's G20 summit - But things are still good.)

And so what, it ain't my daughter
A 22-year-old woman from Oxford, Ohio, died from swine flu on Wednesday. Kimberly Young graduated from Miami University in December and continued to live in Oxford, Ohio, within Minority Leader John Boehner’s congressional district. Reports now indicate that after initially getting sick, Young put off treatment because she was uninsured...

I sure would like to punch out of some fucking bigmouth teabaggers right about now.

'David' was a Christian?
'Values Voter' spokesman fits right in
“‘David has the righteous answer,’ Mattera said, ‘because he is taking pride in his Christian beliefs.’

Only a wingnut could think 'David' - of Goliath fame - could be a Christian when he died 1,000 years before Christ was born. And he's one of their up-in-coming leaders?

They'd eat her damn lunch too
...Former Wall Street Executive Ken Morris offered Sarah Palin a whopping $100,000 to have dinner with him and four progressives of his choosing. So far, just the sound of crickets coming from the Palin camp.

Like Jay Leno alluded to; shouldn't Palin be tried for treason for criticizing our President on foreign soil just like the Dixie Chicks? Sarah Palin is an embarrassment.

Say it is so, Joe

Today a long time ago
On September 26, 1789, 220 years ago today, Thomas Jefferson was appointed the first United States Secretary of State, John Jay was appointed the first Chief Justice of the United States, Samuel Osgood was appointed the first United States Postmaster General, and Edmund Randolph was appointed the first United States Attorney General. -- A small day in history, huh?
George W. Bush's Legacy
Michigan was the only state to see household income fall in 2007. But in 2008, four other states joined Michigan in the downward trend. Declines in other states included:
• Florida, 3.9%
• Indiana, 2.8%
• California, 2%
• Arizona, 1.5%

The Bush Great Recession of 2007 - 2009 not only caused a huge decline in the nation's revenue but his tax policies and senseless war spending in Iraq devastated working families' wages during the entire eight years. A big thanks to all of the phony-conservative wingnuts.

They indoctrinated our kids!
...Back in 2006 children from Gulf Coast states serenaded First Lady Laura Bush with a song praising the President, Congress, and FEMA...
"Our country's stood beside us People have sent us aid. Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade. Congress, Bush and FEMA People across our land Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!"

I don't remember hearing a peep...

We'll get right on it asshole
Bin Laden demands Europe withdraw Afghanistan troops
"One of the greatest injustices is to kill people unjustly, and this is exactly what your governments and soldiers are committing under the cover of the NATO alliance in Afghanistan," bin Laden said...

We just need to kill that son of a bitch.

Utility Giant Blasts U.S. Chamber of Commerce
"We find it dismaying that the Chamber neglects the indisputable fact that a decisive majority of experts have said the data on global warming are compelling and point to a threat that cannot be ignored."

When a large utility tells you to get a clue you know you're a bunch of fools. Do you know anybody who belongs to the Chamber of Commerce? They're like moths and light bulbs -- like NRA groupies with ties -- a lot of your typical phony-conservative wingnut losers.
Damn, they did hang him!
Witness: Census worker's hanging body naked, bound
BIG CREEK, Ky. — ...Jerry Weaver of Fairfield, Ohio, told The Associated Press on Friday that he was among a group of relatives who discovered the body of 51-year-old Bill Sparkman on Sept. 12. "The only thing he had on was a pair of socks," Weaver said. "And they had duct-taped his hands, his wrists. He had duct tape over his eyes, and they gagged him with a red rag or something. "And they even had duct tape around his neck. And they had like his identification tag on his neck. They had it duct-taped to the side of his neck, on the right side, almost on his right shoulder."

Looks like they will rule out suicide. He probably interrupted some redneck watching Glenn Beck.

Go after the big stuff
The House and Senate voted to end funding for ACORN in the wake of a video sting. Now some are asking why the same treatment isn't being given to corrupt defense contractors.

What is a bigger scam: $53 million over 15 years or $25 billion over eight? (Note to Chickenshit-a billion is more than a million) And ACORN didn't electrocute our soldiers or murder its employees.
Another Drudge headline
'Obamacare: Buy insurance or go to jail!'
This is another story Limbaugh read off the Drudge Report yesterday. It has a link to a piece from Politico about a possible year in jail and a $25,000 fine for 'failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.' That's not 'Obamacare' - that is 'Baucuscare' and we've already determined that he's in the pocket of insurance companies. Single payer, Medicare for everyone. Anything else isn't worth it. We don't need to pay hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars every year to insurance companies so they can hand our payments over to the providers. Why is that so hard to figure out? -- Well, Glenn Beck knows ...

There's that diplomacy again
Diplomacy along with the intelligence to choose the right missile defense system - with the unanimous recommendation of our Joint Chiefs - is priceless.
And damn, that scenario sure has been proven right!

And boy, so has that ...

A Really Bad Two Days For Pigboy

Drudge gives Limbaugh some bad 'show prep'
The Drudge Report posted a headline that falsely claimed that President Obama was "Caught By Surprise" by Iran's acknowledgement that it is building a second nuclear facility. In fact, the Washington Post article to which Drudge linked quoted a senior White House official stating, "We've been aware of this facility for several years, building up a case so that we had very strong evidence."
I often try to catch a little Pigboy hate-radio when I know he's going to be having a bigger meltdown than his normal everyday absurdity. I heard him today repeat Drudge on this bogus story on Obama 'being surprised'. Limbaugh just sits on his fatass reading Drudge a lot.

What is that, the blind leading the deaf? Pigboy was ranting on and on about Obama 'pretending' he wasn't surprised by Iran's announcement. Obama was briefed about that reactor before his inauguration. You would think those two deviants would at least read the article.

And ditto-heads like Chickenshit can't figure out why they're so weak and inept. It's their 'show prep'.

Pigboy makes a fool of himself again
The Oxycontin Pedophile Pigboy said on Jay Leno last night that our problem was 'lending money to people who couldn't pay it back' and that George Bush didn't have anything to do with it.

That's funny; the guy on this audio tape sure does an awfully good impression of Bush then.

Bush had a whole lot to do with it and you just heard the undeniable proof.

If Pigboy's lips are moving, he's lying.

*The WSJ had a piece on Saturday that confirms Obama was briefed before taking office. "Mr. Obama first learned about the Qom site in an intelligence briefing during the transition after his election."

Barack Obama the Appeaser - We surrender

"We seek neither military superiority nor political advantage. Our only purpose--one all people share--is to search for ways to reduce the danger of nuclear war. ... Isn't it worth every investment necessary to free the world from the threat of nuclear war? We know it is."

Oops, I'm sorry, wrong 'appeaser'. That was Ronald Reagan who said that.

Not that the facts really matter to Chickenshit

For people with integrity and self-worth the truth is important. To hyperbolic and immature pathological liars who are part prevaricator and part just astonishingly ignorant and incapable, it doesn't matter because they lack moral character and common sense and decency.

ACORN

The 'Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now', or ACORN, was founded in 1970.

Since 1994 ACORN has received $53.6 million in government funding. Yeah, that's right, since 1994. That breakdown of the $53.6 million is as follows; $6.2 million from Bill Clinton, $47.4 million from George W. Bush and not one goddamn dime from Barack Obama.

And the 'alleged' $8.5 billion that ACORN is suppose to receive from the Stimulus Program? That's absolute total bullshit. And Chickenshit is now comically claiming it's $45 billion and of course it has to be true because 'Hannity told him so'. He's always been such a pathetic sheep that's too dumb to be embarrassed and not surprisingly, way too stupid to care. And how stupid and inept is person who has blogged for many years and has to ask a commenter to check and see if what he wrote is factual?

Just how hard is it to fact check something? Very hard I guess when you're that fucking stupid. But then again, if you're a proven pathological liar and those reading your ignorant and childish nonsense are too stupid to know better, obviously it doesn't matter.

Plaxico

And oh yeah Chickenshit, the judge who sentenced Plaxico Burress, Michael H. Melkonian, is a Republican, dumbass. Plaxico probably still feels pretty good about Democrats. And he should. Retract that too Chickenshit while you're at it. Yeah right, that'll happen.

Buy yourself a clue and rent some integrity and some values, you pathetic, simple-minded lying Chickenshit.

Do you mean like the way you and your previous boss did for all of those years?

"If you want another terrorist attack in the U.S., abandon Afghanistan."

Some people just have no shame.

If we wanted "another terrorist attack in the U.S." we would have elected another incompetent administration like the last one that completely ignored over 40 intelligence briefings about al-Qaeda attacks before the last one here in the U.S.

If we wanted another terrorist attack Barack Obama would have appointed a National Security Advisor who was so petty and so craven that she couldn't stand the thought of someone from the previous administration warning her about the situation that had such dire consequences on the U.S..

And no one from the Bush administration, especially Condoleezza Rice, should be lecturing anyone on 'abandoning Afghanistan' since that's exactly what they did for over seven years. In fact, she and her boss are precisely why we're at where we're at now.

There's talk of Condoleezza Rice being the new 'face' of the Republican Party. We of the opposition look forward to that opportunity. She has a record and unfortunately for her, it's very well documented.
No, a lying, double-talking wingnut?
A year ago, Beck called for a bailout bigger than $700 billion; now claims he "hated" Bush for starting bailouts. "The "Real Story" is: The $700 billion that you're hearing about now is not only, I believe, necessary, it is also not nearly enough, and all of the weasels in Washington know it."

How could anyone possibly expect rightwingnuts to ever be rational, clear thinkers when all of their heroes are a bunch of blithering, double-talking idiots?

That's exactly what we should do

U.S. to shift from Afghanistan to Pakistan?

Could focus war on Pakistan and use drones, not more troops
WASHINGTON - The White House is looking at expanding counterterror operations in Pakistan to refocus on eliminating al-Qaida instead of mounting a major military escalation in Afghanistan, two senior administration officials said Monday.
We should not double the number of troops we have in Afghanistan as General McChrystal has supposedly requested. To begin with, Afghanistan is a hell hole that doesn't deserve our support. Secondly and most importantly, that strategy is Viet Nam all over again.

I find it humorous that 'Senate Republicans are demanding more forces' in Afghanistan all of sudden. We're eight years into this and they haven't said shit about the lack of American troops there. What changed, besides Presidents? Where were all the wingnuts when those of us who got it right from the very start were saying that? The dumb wingnuts totally ignored al-Qaeda.

I sincerely hope that President Obama chooses the right strategy. And he needs to remind the Republicans who are whining now what fools and despicable partisan hypocrites they have been for the last eight years.

Ask a wingnut to show proof of where they ever raised the issue of not enough troops in Afghanistan before now. They're losers and they can't prove they're not.

We don't need additional troops in Afghanistan. We just need to use those we have there already in the only mission we should be fighting. And if that's in Pakistan, great, annihilate them bastards! And then get home.
Iran advances in making medium-range missiles
U.S. missile defense upgrade to counter threat
White House National Security Adviser James L. Jones says President Obama's decision to abandon a long-range missile defense site in Eastern Europe was driven by U.S. intelligence concerns that Iran is further along than previously thought in developing medium-range missiles that could strike Western Europe and the Middle East with nuclear warheads.
The country's dividend from its new, strong and skillfully thought-out foreign policy is absolutely priceless...

And you realized that when you answered that question.

I can't believe I'm linking to the Moonie Times. But it is General Jones.

What our goal wasn't for 7 long years

"... And we are gonna see how this is fitting what, I think, is our core goal. Which is to go after the folks who killed the 3,000 Americans during 9/11, and who are still plotting to kill us, al Qaeda. How do we dismantle them, disrupt them, destroy them."
It's very easy to predict the wingnut response to President Obama's statement on Afghanistan. "Our goal and President Bush's goal was to destroy those 'who killed the 3,000 Americans' too". And to all of us who actually paid attention over the last eight years the very simple and unfortunately correct response to that is;
no it wasn't idiots, you weren't even close!

You sat back on your stupid asses and supported sending 150,000 American troops to a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 while your ignorant commander in chief deployed 5,000 troops to the country that did.

I sat and listened to John Boehner and Lindsay Graham on Meet the Press after Obama's interview. Those two fools have the audacity to question Obama's policy in Afghanistan? Are you fucking kidding me? Both of those revisionist punks had their heads buried in George Bush's ass in our foolish invasion and 6 1/2 year occupation of Iraq and our shameful neglect of what our 'goal' should have been all along; al-Qaeda.

Like Boehner and Graham, the vast majority of wingnuts who ignorantly supported going to Iraq are the reason we haven't already 'destroyed' those 'who killed the 3,000 Americans'.

They have been the problem and a distraction up to this point. So they have absolutely no credibility going forward. The adults will take it from here.

It could have been about the ratings
Obama skipped out on "the highly-rated Fox News Sunday?" ... Uh sorry, not so much Chrissy

The facts: [Chrissy]Wallace hosts, and has hosted for years, the perennial Sunday morning news show loser. Fox News Sunday pretty much gets lapped by the rest of network field. It's not even close.

I'm personally very happy that Barack Obama ignored Fox this morning. And I know it wasn't because of Chris Wallace's Fox News Sunday being dead last among Sunday morning talking head shows. Of course he did it because they're a bunch of pathetic America-haters who find no shame in lying more times than not. All clear thinking and knowledgeable people have figured that out.

But it sure is nice to know that most Americans have wised-up on which network to go to for their Sunday morning news. And besides, that little whiny-ass Wallace is just too typical of your everyday wingnut so why should President Obama waste anymore of his time?

But who knows? It really could have been about Fox News Sunday's dead last ratings. But I hope not.

The CBO said that three months ago

The $1,761 Cap & Trade Lie

"Cap And Trade Could Cost Families $1,761 A Year”

How do you herd sheople? First you release erroneous and previously debunked data from a rightwing corporatist 'think tank' and pretend they're a legitimate source that's non-partisan. Then the rightwing media picks it up as "breaking news" and the next thing you know 30% of the most ignorant and gullible among us believe it without doing any thinking on their own. They just line up and head back to the pen. Or to a tea party.

For those of us who believe facts are important we get our data from reliable, trustworthy and hopefully non-partisan news sources. The 'nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office' (CBO), released another report on Cap and Trade just this past Thursday that clearly states that the cost they estimate it will be is 1/11th of that ridiculously inflated lie, or $160 a year per household.

That's slightly lower than the $175 they told your stupid asses three months ago. Shut up, get a fucking clue and stop regurgitating bullshit from pathological liars!

*The exposure of this new wingnut lie is more eloquently laid-out over at Think Progress.

That Weekend Dose You've Been Waiting For

That's how the Savage likes her!
'MICHELLE SHOWS OFF 'BONDAGE BELT'...
'STRAPPED FIRST LADY SAYS WOMEN SUFFER UNDER HEALTH SYSTEM' The picture and the two 'all caps' titles above, 'Strapped First Lady' and 'Shows Off Bondage Belt' have been headlining Drudge since Friday afternoon. No idea why since neither link mentions anything about a 'bondage belt'. I guess it just adds a little savageness to it.

(Update 16:45) Interestingly Drudge has totally removed the picture and both links. They were all still up as late as 1500 hrs. The links weren't moved down the page like is normally done, but removed entirely. I guess it was that obvious.

Targeting and killing the real enemy
Recent targeted attacks that killed militants in Somalia, Indonesia and Pakistan have chipped away at al-Qaida's power base, sapping the terror network of key leaders and experienced operatives who train recruits and wage attacks. Intelligence officials said Friday that the military strikes have reduced al-Qaida's core leadership to only a handful of men and diminished its ability to train fighters.

We're very thankful for the resolve on the real mission.

But .. but what did he say when ...
Limbaugh-9/18/09
"He's [Obama] going to make the illegals legal, he's gonna do amnesty. Everyone knows this, predicted this."

Tell us ditto-heads, who signed the biggest amnesty bill in U.S. history? Hint: You will not find that answer at the Heritage Foundation or hear it on Fox News or discussed on hate radio.

Bush: Sarah Palin "not even remotely prepared"
While the rest of his party was celebrating the choice of novice VP candidate Sarah Palin last August, then-President George W. Bush attempted to inject some reason and caution into the melee, according to a new book by a former White House speechwriter. "'This woman is being put into a position that she is not even remotely prepared for,'" Bush is quoted as saying ...

Bush got one right for a change. But no one dumber or more 'unprepared' has ever been elected president than George W. Bush. And people knew that when they voted for him in 2000. They thought it was funny that he was dumb and said he'd be 'cool to have a beer with'. Isn't it great sharing the planet with so many fucking morons?

The Teabaggers' Leadership
Now that's fucking depressing!
The incomes of the young and middle-aged — especially men — have fallen off a cliff since 2000, leaving many age groups poorer than they were even in the 1970s, a USA TODAY analysis of new Census data found. ...The dividing line between those getting richer or poorer: the year 1955. If you were born before that, you're part of a generation enjoying a four-decade run of historic income growth. Every generation after that is now sinking economically.

Since the very beginning of Bushonomics - when fools cheered their pettily tax cut - your wages - in many more cases than not - have remained stagnant. Hell, some of the Bush kool aid drinkers don't even have wages anymore and they're still too stupid to get it. And after they read the next story, they'll realize they had better get used to it. And that their votes for Republicans have had some very serious consequences.

Monti died one sweltering June day in 2006 on a remote ridge in Afghanistan, on his third attempt to creep through pounding insurgent fire to rescue one of his wounded soldiers. ...On Thursday, in the ornate East Room of the White House, a somber President Obama recognized Monti with the nation's highest military decoration, the Medal of Honor... -- Thank you again, Sgt. Monti. RIP.

Great job Democrats! Take a bow
Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington was once characterized as a liberal group on a witch hunt to oust then-House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX). Not anymore. On Tuesday, the Washington watchdog group released its list of what it called the “most corrupt members of Congress” — and Democrats, who now control both chambers of Congress, comprise the majority.

On second thought, is there any possibility I could get Jack Murtha or Alan Mollohan to be my congressman?

Fuck 'em! More air for the rest of us

LIMBAUGH: Wait just a second now [...] Marxist, socialist, fascist, yes. I never called him a Nazi. That's what his people are calling us.

FALLUJAH, Iraq — An Iraqi man who witnesses said shouted abuse before throwing a shoe at a US army vehicle was shot dead on Wednesday in what the American military said was a suspected grenade attack.

The moral of that story is don't throw your shoe at the ones driving around in armored vehicles. Just those standing at podiums.

Looking for Jimmy
DETROIT (WXYZ) - The FBI is digging at a site on Detroit's west side. Agents are conducting an investigation, but it is not known what they are searching for. The most obvious question is... are they looking for Jimmy Hoffa? ...Investigators are carrying white binders that say "Big Dig 2." In 2006, a search for Hoffa at a farm in Milford was commonly referred to as the "Big Dig."

Wow, was that the crowd?
Oh, that figures.

Yeah okay ...that makes more sense
"60,000-70,000" is still an awful lot of idiots, though.

Today a long time ago
The Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863, marked the end of a Union offensive in southeastern Tennessee and northwestern Georgia called the Chickamauga Campaign. The battle was the most significant Union defeat in the Western Theater of the American Civil War. The battle was fought between the Union Army of the Cumberland under Maj. Gen. William Rosecrans and the Confederate Army of Tennessee under Gen. Braxton Bragg, and was named for West Chickamauga Creek, which flows into the Tennessee River about 3.5 miles northeast of downtown Chattanooga.

I visited the Chickamauga-Chattanooga National Military Park back in July of 2005 and really enjoyed it.

I have a simple question (excluding wingnuts)

On issues relating to our national defense we should listen to and follow the advice of:
A. Limbaugh, Hannity and McCain or
B. The unanimous recommendation of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Sec. of Defense Robert Gates?

I ask that simple question - not to wingnuts of course, they're not rational or deep thinkers but followers - to independent minded people who actually care about our nation's defense and not whether their favorite sheepherder agrees with it or not.

President Obama, with the "unanimous support" of the Joint Chiefs and Secretary Gates has decided to scrap the G.W. Bush Star Wars Debacle. It was too costly, wouldn't be done until 2017, and most importantly would not work. Obama will now, with a strong recommendation from the men who know, implement a "less costly, less controversial" system that is "more adaptable and will work better than the previous system" and will be completed by 2011.

So do you listen to a couple of pathetic Chickenhawks and U.S. history's worst fighter pilot who has had a disastrous record on foreign policy or do you listen to the Generals and Admirals who rose to the top of their profession and now comprise our Joint Chiefs of Staff?

That should be a very easy question to answer for any free-thinking and rational person. Wingnuts excluded.
Bush v. Obama

US household wealth up after two years
Overall household worth rose to $53.1 trillion in the second quarter, the Fed reported, thanks to a rise in the stock market, home values, and personal savings.

For the first time in two years, the net worth of American households posted a quarterly gain, the Federal Reserve reported Thursday.
As history has repeatedly shown; American prosperity goes down under Republicans and up under Democrats.

WTF?
O’REILLY: But you know, I want that, Ms. Owcharenko. I want that. I want, not for personally for me, but for working Americans, to have an option, that if they don’t like their health insurance, if it’s too expensive, they can’t afford it, if the government can cobble together a cheaper insurance policy that gives the same benefits, I see that as a plus for the folks.
Bill O'Reilly supports a public option?

Did another Fox employee tape some more of O'Reilly's phone calls or something?

Where was the outrage then?
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs fired back at GOP critics of White House czars on Wednesday.

Gibbs said GOP “silence was deafening” on the issue of czars during former President George W. Bush's administration.
Number of George W. Bush czars - 35
Number of Barack H. Obama czars - 32

Well yeah, but George W. Bush was a phony-conservative white guy and now things are different.

And of course wingnuts never said a word about the constitutionality of Bush's 35 czars. Not a single word.

Nah, it's all about 'policy' differences. Sure.

No health care reform for the Poles or Czechs

Obama scrapping missile shield

The Czech prime minister says President Barack Obama has told him that the U.S. is abandoning plans to put a missile shield in the Czech Republic and Poland.
Do you find it ironic that wingnuts will whine for days now because we won't be spending billions and billions of our dollars to build a bogus 'missile shield' that won't work anyway for Poland and the Czech Republic but they don't want to spend it on Americans for health care?

Is that why teabaggers were pathetically silent when George W. Bush wasted $2 trillion in Iraq, $2 trillion in tax cuts for the top 2%, $1.3 trillion on the drug kickback to pharmaceutical companies, more than doubled our national debt and drove us into the biggest recession since the 1930's?

Wingnuts could actually claim some credibility if they were ever only even close to being consistent.

We don't need to waste billions on phony weapons systems for Poles and Czechs while we ignore Americans in need. But just listen to the wingnuts today whine about that irony. ... But that's why they're wingnuts.

Thankfully we have a President now with balls and brains.

How did Bush do fighting the real 'war on terror'?

We very badly under-resourced Afghanistan for the better part of four or five years." - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mullen
Shorter Wall Street Journal:

Hurry and attack Iran so Israel doesn't have to

Obama Is Pushing Israel Toward War

The problem, however, is that the [Obama] administration isn't taking the bait, and one has to wonder why. Perhaps it thinks its diplomacy will work, or that it has the luxury of time ... And the longer the U.S. delays playing hardball with Iran, the sooner Israel is likely to strike.
Nobody in their right mind wants Iran to develop a nuclear bomb. I'm sure other people in that region aren't wild about the couple of hundred Israel possesses either.

But we're the United States and we don't run our foreign policy based on Israel's needs. Well we actually do in the Middle East but we shouldn't. Hopefully that's changing.

And what's the hurry? It wasn't even three weeks ago that the International Atomic Energy Agency reported Iran "has slowed production of enriched uranium and agreed to tighter monitoring of its enrichment plant".

The IAEA's record on these matters is much better than ours and maybe even Israel's (except in their minds of course) so I think we should probably hold off on attacking Iran for right now. We are after all a little busy.

But then again, the Wall Street Journal and its author, Bret Stephens don't care about our timetable. They have other 'national' interests and friends to worry about.

I have a record that I can reference

I'm not very smart. But compared to some people I'm a fucking genius.

I've had three blogs. That may be where 'not very smart' pertains.

But one thing that I can always do with any of those three blogs is reference to something I said at some point before now. That's actually the reason why I blog.

So I do have a record. And when you have a record that you have been so consistent and so correct on, you always enjoy referencing back to it. I know you've noticed, that happens a lot on 'done that'. In fact, I did it several times in
my last post.

But there is nothing that I have been more consistent - and right - about than the 'wars' in Afghanistan and Iraq. That is very easy to prove.

My very
first post ever was on 6/18/05. My record on both Afghanistan and Iraq was made very clear just five days later in a post, 'Lies about the recent past'.

And just for the record; I didn't know who Barack Obama was in June 2005. And I have whole-heartedly supported our mission in Afghanistan since 9/11/01 and have been adamantly and persistently opposed to our invasion of Iraq since before 3/19/03. One of those 'references' was used just yesterday.

I don't support a 'war' in Afghanistan. What I do support is the pursuit of Osama bin Laden and the al-Qaeda scumbags who were involved in 9/11. No one has been more consistent on that and my record has been very, very clear,
regardless of who is President.

Absolutely no one has been more consistent or correct on our so-called 'war on terror' than me. There may be some who are tied, if they too are batting 1000., but no one as been more.

If you did a simple search on the word 'Afghanistan' on my three blogs you would find a total of 264 blog posts. I defy anyone to match that. In fact, I defy anyone to show just one-fourth of that. It's not a subject I've backed away from and I've been consistently right for the last eight years and two days.

I do have a record. And when it comes to being right on Afghanistan and Iraq it is impeccable. If you ever supported the now unequivocally proven disastrous invasion of Iraq, then you got it terribly wrong on Afghanistan. You've been a big part of the problem. That's undeniable.

Thanks are owed to the natural selection process that makes some men cart boys and some men leaders. You waste 6 1/2 years, 4,343 lives and two trillion dollars babysitting Iraqis that were never a threat while those who attacked us and those who protected them regrouped and became stronger. Yeah, stick to checkers.

And answer me this simple question; do 'they' ever reference any of their previous posts? No, they can't - they would be laughingly embarrassed and exposed for the fools they've been.

Consistency and ethics, or just the basic moral character that's needed to pursue truth and accuracy is amazingly not something that the whiny wingnut chickenshit has ever strived for. And of course, I have been pointing out that indisputable fact since the very first post I ever wrote.

I have a record.

Your Weekend Dose of Reality

Now that really pisses me off!
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in 2003, and in July 2009

First of all, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed should be dead. He has confessed - and not just during one of the 183 times he was waterboarded - but defiantly in open court. He's proud of his involvement in 9/11. But if we haven't executed his ass yet, he certainly shouldn't be allowed to sit there posing like he's some fucking Omar Sharif and sending photos home to his family and terrorists fans! Shave that motherfucker's head so we can wire him up!

... About breeding those little idiots
I told you we were breeding a generation of little home-schooled rightwing idiots that emulate their parents...

There are no civilians in Afghanistan!
GANJGAL, Afghanistan — We walked into a trap, a killing zone of relentless gunfire and rocket barrages from Afghan insurgents hidden in the mountainsides and in a fortress-like village where women and children were replenishing their ammunition. ...Four U.S. Marines were killed Tuesday - Several U.S. officers said they suspected that the insurgents had been tipped off by sympathizers in the local Afghan security forces or by the village elders...

I don't want to hear any more whining about goddamn civilians in Afghanistan. Gen's Petraeus and McChrystal have us acting like boy scouts over there and they reward us with an ambush. We shouldn't be over there to win hearts and minds. We should be there to kill bin Laden and al-Qaeda and if the 'sympathizers' and 'village elders' are tipping them off and women and children are 'replenishing their ammunition', then they are not 'civilians', they are fucking targets!

Norman Rockwell - 'The Runaway' - September 20, 1958

[From 'fucking targets'!! to, 'The Runaway' ... I feel like George Carlin ... The End Zone ... Go home ...]

It's the revenue more than the spending
[August] marked the 16th consecutive month that revenues have been lower than the previous year, a string that reflects how much the recession, which began in December 2007, has cut into personal income and corporate taxes. Spending in August totaled $256.9 billion, down 4.5 percent from the year before. However, that comparison was misleading because the deficit last month was lowered by timing shifts which saw some payments shifted into July because Aug. 1 fell on a Saturday. Primarily because of the timing shifts, last month's deficit was 0.5 percent lower than in August 2008.

The biggest negative effect from The Great Bush Recession of 2007-2009 has been the huge decline in revenue. It was less in 2008 than it was in 2007 and it will be an astounding $414 billion less (-20.2%!) this year than last. And as you can see, the deficit was less this August than last. Why didn't they have a 'tea party' last year? Because they're ignorant, lame-ass and phony fiscal (sic) conservatives who just can't stand the thought of a Black guy being their President, that's why.Bartcop

And he's a self-hating veteran too
Wilson has "voted 11 times against health care for veterans in eight years, even as he voted 'aye' for the Iraq War..., "He voted to cut veterans' benefits─not his own─to make room for President George W. Bush's tax cuts," He repeatedly voted for budgets that slashed funding to the Veterans Administration and TRICARE."

A Republican voting against veterans is not unusual. If you remember, that phony despicable piece of shit John McCain has spent his entire career voting against veterans. The fucking hypocrites are shameless.

Do you mean Iraqis don't like George?
BAGHDAD — The Iraqi TV journalist who threw his shoes at then-president George W. Bush will be showered with gifts including a four-bedroom house — and at least one potential bride — upon his imminent release from jail.

'Greeted as liberators'? You would think Iraqis would appreciate George Bush's foolish invasion. It did after all let them install a Shi'ite government that's now a very close ally of their friendly neighbor Iran. ...But the sheep didn't see it coming. Only about 20% of us did.

And how the sheep stalled victory
Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff admits the failures
“This is the eighth year, but there is a newness here. There is a starting again, or starting over. Iraq has been the focus, it hasn’t been Afghanistan.’’ ...“The Taliban is much closer to Al Qaeda than it used to be. They are much more affiliated with each other than they were a few years ago. Call it a federation.'' ... “I am one that believes that we need to negotiate . . . from a position of strength. “We are not in a position of strength.’’

The sad reality of a country too dumb to know better. We ignored our real enemy and allowed Bush and his accomplices to lie and lead us into a needless and $2 trillion blunder that destroyed just about everything.

The smartest Senator in the U.S.

They had nothing to do with it, asshole
For sport, they rolled through the streets of Baghdad hurling frozen oranges and water bottles at civilians and nearby vehicles, trying to smash windshields and injure bystanders. Convoying through the city in armored vehicles, the contractors fired their weapons indiscriminately. One member of the Blackwater security team known as Raven 23 regularly bragged about his body count and viewed killing Iraqis as "payback for 9/11."

Raven 23 should be serving life in Leavenworth.

Another bad week for Repugnants
GOP ex-lawmaker found wounded after girlfriend's death
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Hours after his former fiancee was found shot to death in Lexington, former gubernatorial candidate Steve Nunn slit his wrists in a Hart County cemetery, according to Kentucky State Police.
Assemblyman resigns after his sex comments are broadcast
An Orange County lawmaker who inadvertently broadcast explicit remarks about his sexual conquests over an open microphone abruptly resigned from office Wednesday after legislative leaders stripped him of his committee posts and launched an ethics probe of his actions. Assemblyman Michael Duvall (R-Yorba Linda), whose remarks were videotaped in July during a lull in a Sacramento hearing, stepped down less than 24 hours after the tape spread online Tuesday night. In the video, the married family-values crusader from Yorba Linda talks in graphic detail about women he said he slept with ...

The family-values Party had another bad week.

Jesus, Fox and Hooters
In Britain, Rupert Murdoch’s “The Sun” has “Page Three Girls” – a clever use of well endowed women to sell newspapers. In New York City, Rupert Murdoch’s “Fox&Friends” provides the media “exposure” to sell a “family” show that allows viewers to affirm their Christian outrage against a secular society while oogling Hooters Girls. It’s strange – there seems to be a contradiction between the two;

You know, most wingnuts I know do laughingly praise God and Hooter Girls at the same time. After all, they major in hypocrisy.

AHNC

Let me help you out there a little
Our federal debt will be $11.9 trillion when FY09 ends September 30. It's confusing sometimes when you see, "Debt Held by the Public" = $7.6 trillion and you probably wonder what the other $4.3 trillion is. Well, 'we' owe that other $4.3 trillion to 'ourselves'. It's $2.5 trillion 'we' borrowed from 'our' Social Security 'trust' and $1.8 trillion that's due to, 'Mainly the Civil Service Retirement, Military Retirement, Medicare, and Unemployment Insurance Trust Funds'. Of the $2.5 trillion borrowed from Social Security, George W. Bush 'borrowed' over $1.3 trillion, or 53% of it in his miserable eight year reign. Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan and Nixon borrowed the rest. Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter never borrowed a dime from social security. In fact, Ford 'added' a few billion to it and Carter kicked in an additional $12.5 billion. The 'Debt Held by the Public' is all federal debt held by states, corporations, individuals, and foreign governments. Of that $7.6 trillion, about $3.1 trillion is 'external' or foreign debt. We 'owe' China $740 billion, Japan $635 billion and even Russia has $120 billion and Mexico $35 billion 'invested' in us.

And as you know, Republicans were generally running things when we were racking up that debt.

You're welcome. Go Wolverines!
